3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, thanks to Sarro, 03/01/2012. Pours rich, deep brown, thin tan head fades to splotchy surface haziness, fine lacing rings the glass. Rich aroma, buttery caramel with sweet chocolate fudge, vanilla, prominent bourbon profile, light roasted black malts on the end . Taste does not match for me, a lactic tartness throughout, with bitter caramel, sweet roasted malts, stale woody aftertaste. What was buttery in the aroma perhaps indicative of beginnings of infection, a shame.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
0.33l bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Pours a deep deep brown - near black - body with a small quickly fading and sidesticking light tan head. The aroma knocks your head back a bit. Lots of bourbon here alright! It’s roasted with chocolate and dark caramel, but it’s definitely the bourbon that’s the most prominent, aka. The King, here. It has a average carbonation level and a medium oily to watery texture in the mouth. The first thing noticed with this compared with the non-barreled is that this is so much more warming. Almost as if it has more alcohol or something. Nice and rounded chocolate and coffee touches, hints of something almost salty before it’s ended of both hoppy and sour with a lasting bourbon finish. Yeah, really nice and the flavors are extremely well blended. Please start barreling ALL schwarzbier’s! By far the best one I’ve ever had. 27.01.2012

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from motortoddhead...thanks Todd! - Pours deep black with a thin tan head. Nose is muted coffee, booze-soaked dark bread, and a powdery cocoa note. Taste has some menthol, and a sweet booziness and a butterscotch sweetness that’s a bit cloying and doesn’t mesh that great with the schwarzbier. Finishes abruptly, then leaves a sticky, syrupy sweetness through the long finish. Slick and thick, with minimal carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Domus Birrae. Basically this one seemed to me a watered down bourbon. Black color with red reflexes, short (an homage) dirty white head. Aroma of Bourbon (o rly?), booze, vanilla, corn, malt. Taste of Bourbon, vanilla, wood, dark fruits, malt, booze. light body and unbelievably the mouth feel results a little bit empty. You can note the schwarzbier character just if you want to. It is actually very drinkable end enjoyable because It has the taste and the aroma of bourbon but not its strength (like a bourbon...watered down?). I liked it indeed but i think they have to sustain the beer side much much more.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, 35,5 cl. A black beer with red edges and a foamy beige head. Aroma is hard roasted malts with sweet notes of butterscotch, oak and bourbon. Taste is sweet and smooth with notes of brown shugga, butterscotch, caramel, oak, vanilla and dark dried fruits. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Fruity slightly malt-bitter and vaguely tart finish with a long duration. Delicious.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ Danish Summer Gathering, Ulfborg 2011. #1000. I was lucky enough to have a decent beer for my 1000 rating, since that day we had a lot of crappy ones :D. Black color with a small creamy bege head. Roasted malty aroma, vanilla, caramel, bourbon, wood, alcohol. Tastes smooth roasty, with lots of bourbon and a sligthly alcoholic finish. Very nice nevertheless.
