3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
28th anniversary of pepsican being on earth, big thanks to Northernbrews for this one. Hazy amber pour with a nice sized white head that stuck around for the majority of the beer. Aroma had lots of caramel, but not quite enough to overpower the citrus and pine hops profile. Flavored followed through just how I hoped it would. Lots of hops but with enough toffee and caramel to try and help even it out. Finish was very dry and bitter, but not to the point of overpowering. Fresh as all get out on the hops, zero staleness, no weirdo malt or yeast profile. Bravo Short’s for making a damn near perfect Amber/APA.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at Schlafly’s 2010 Repeal of Prohibition Festival - Pours clear amber with a white head. The aroma is well balance with toasted malt and funky / floral hops. Medium body with fairly sharp carbonation. The flavor starts like the aroma, but the finish is a bit medicinal. Okay.

On tap at Shorts. Really good flavor without being too bitter. Smooth. Best beer I tried in my flight of five.

At tap shorts. All I wrote was "this is reddish amber with massive citrus hops, both in the nose and mouth".

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled at Schlafly Repeal. One of the best beers at the festival! This was such a nice IPA and was delightfully understated. Some nice hops, nice caramel, nice fruit. The beer was served warm out of a pitcher that had been in the sun which might explain the harsh aroma. Everything here melded nicely.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
tap at repeal prohibition festival at Schalfly in Maplewood, mo-lite copper hue with a small fizzy white head. nice big hop nose-pine, earthy and some leafy tobacoo notes. earthy and piney hop flavors dominate along with a nice malt backbone-woodsy/herbal hop notes. nice long piney finish. I should have tried more of this at the festival. Very good! It was not as citrus as i expected from the nose. The brewer was saying "its a pale ale dry hoppped like an ipa" and i think they are right with that description.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted 4/17/10. Schlafly’s Repeal of Prohibition Festival. Filtered with a dark golden hue. Lotta grapefruit hops in the ample nose. Medium bodied with a solid malt backbone and big hop dominance. Great drinking with an emphasis on the bitter grapefruit flavors. Touch more on the dry side, but tasted delicious!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Schlafly Beer Fest. This is EVERYTHING I want in an IPA. Lots and lots of hoppy citrusy flavor. And yes a smaller malt backbone - one just large enough to hold the beer together. So big Hop bomb without any cloying malty or alcohol flavors that sometimes come with a high hop IPA. This would be my house beer - if I lived in Northern Michigan.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(draught at Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition) orange amber with off white head. Grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit flavor. They may call it an APA, but it is well hopped - I’d’ve called it an American IPA. Decent amount of malt, but the focus is all on the hops.
