Pub Brew. Fearless in French is a reddish brown Biere de Garde with enjoyable tart green apple and subtle nutmeg aromas. These aromas derive from the French Saison yeast used in the brewing process. The mellow malt sweetness mixes with continued fruity and spicy flavors to create some unique vinous qualities. A slight bitterness, along with a welcomed dryness, makes for a gratifying and not too filling finish.

On tap at the Shorts anniversary party. An interesting style definitely. Very creamy and a variety of spices. A for sure smooth beer. A unique brew.

Tap @ Shorts: Clear, golden body with a foamy, stark white head. Aroma of mildly dry, cotton-y yeast notes that hint at Belgian-esque funk. Lots & lots of dry malt, some bread. Obscured spice. Taste has more dry yeast throughout with the pale malts adding the lightest bit of sweetness. Mild peppery hops, slight earth with a dry, bread & biscuit tasting finish. Nothing inherently wrong here, just quite boring overall.

tap. Amber with small head. This is supposedly a biere de garde, but I’m really not finding anything here that fits. Medium malt body, but no yeast flavors that I’d expect. A rare disappointment from Shorts.

On draft. Pours a hazed amber-brown with a thinner khaki head that leaves a wall of lace. Nose involves musty cellar, oakiness, some apple pie, toasted malt, and some grassy hops. Somewhat sweet, pretty tart, somewhat bitter. Medium bodied, fair carb, tingly, with a toasty tart and bitter finish. Very nice brew with lots of complexity.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a reddish copper color with a minimal white head. Aroma and taste of mild fruit and spice. Nice dry mildly bitter finish.
