3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at The Oak. Hazy copper pour with a small head that collect to a thin ring. Aroma is packed with cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg with light caramel. Taste has a very mild sweetness. Spices take over the weak malt flavor. A tad watery. An uninteresting pumpkin beer.

On tap at Fenton Fire Hall...dark orange pour and a very earthy roasted pumpkin flavor with fresh ground real spices. One of the best pumpkin beers I’ve had and glad to see its out of retirement!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Growler: Caramel-orange body with lighter, amber edges. A quickly fading, light-beige head sits on top. Heavily spiced aroma. Basket of gingerbread, whole cloves, nutmeg, mild caramel toast, & perhaps a little bit of cinnamon sticks near the back-end. Cloves & ginger root sticks out to me the most. Flavor is the same way; lots of spicy-sweet clove & ground ginger mixing with the toasty, bready malts to give a moderate gingerbread flavor. Nutmeg, very faint vanilla, toasty caramel, bread, allspice. Certainly no shortage of spices in this ale, with a timid sweetness flowing from front to back for balance.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Pete’s Place. Pours an interesting dark amber color. Looks almost like a fresh apple cider. A big spiced pumpkin aroma with a very true pumpkin flavor. The flavor is nice a fresh. A nice pumpkin vegetal kick upfront with a nice spicy blend. Would go great with a fruit pie. A solid pumpkin effort from Shorts. And one on the higher end for me as pumpkin brews go.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap: The aroma consists of heavy gingerbread, nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, and pumpkin. It’s a transparent amber with a small khaki head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of caramel, brown sugar, and light pumpkin. The finish has heavy ginger and light nutmeg. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a little too heavy on the ginger.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Hazy orange-brown body, thin off-white head. Nose of nutmeg and pumpkin, same in body which is powdery, grassy, and not too sweet. About as quaffable as pumpkin beers come.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
brownish orange pour, tiny bubbles for a head, somewhat lacy. nose of pumpkin, spices. flavor is the same as the nose, spice and pumpkins. medium bodied, sweet finish. pumpkin beers tend to be a one trick pony. this one is no different.
