750 ml from the brewery (Bellaire, MI). Mom picked this up on their summer trip. Pours a rich bright amber, deeper with good haze, glowing orange with brisk and bright. A huge cakey beige head sits atop, laces well, stays pretty big. Aromas are sweeter breads, touches of toffee, sweeter malts with a light spiciness, ginger root provides an earthy spice, light floral hopping, bread and toast, some apple sauce. A touch of a metallic aroma, florals, crisp bready malts. Initial is sweeter bready malts, touches of toffee, cakiness, ginger root provides light spice, a pretty solid floral and earthy hopping, a touch of a sharpness from them on the backend. Moves into mellow sweetness of caramel, toasty sweet breads, rye malts, cake. Sharper florals. Finish is lingering sweetness, dry florals, a bit bland, the larger ABV hides itself, the ginger grows on me a bit, light mellow spiciness. Nice, sweet moves to dry, just not really my thing

Bottle. Poured a near clear amber with a thick creamy head that lasted. Aroma was a combination rye and ginger with the ginger with taking the backseat. Flavor began with smooth rye and a bit of a grassy undertone with the ginger growing towards the finish.

Pale body, white head with red tone. Aroma of ginger, sweet caramel malt. Flavour has ginger, but not too much. Quite a nice balance. Some berries and fermentated raisins. Bitter with sweet malt flavour.

Sample from a bottle that made its way to our table at DLD 2010. Clear gold pour with a thick off-white head. Nose of ginger and bready malt. Flavor is bready malt up front with some sweetness (almost brown sugar) before a spicy ginger finish that lasts.

Saw this sitting on the table at DLD2010 and absolutely had to have a pour. Pinkish color with white head. Lots of ginger and yeast in the aroma. Strawberry, citrus, ginger flavor. Slick mouthfeel. Not sure the aging really helped this, but I liked it for a ginger brew.

Thanks to Dirty Martini & Kittiesandbeer for bringing this to the Woodshop 5.0 tasting. This had an interesting combination of flavors that I enjoyed.

750 ml bottle. Pikkulintu AW10. Finland.
Clear reddish copper colour with huge white head. Spices, "Belgian" yeast, berries and ginger (balanced) in aroma. Caramel, sour cranberry kissel (kiisseli), bitter hops, berries and mild ginger in flavour. Some bitterness in aftertaste. Well balanced for a ginger brew.
