Ughsmash (2614), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2008 750mL bottle at DLD. Poured cloudy medium golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up a whole lot of ginger and spicy rye as advertised.. some wet grains and medicinal notes tailed behind.. I didn’t like it much, but it was certainly shocking and different. Sharper in the flavor department with black pepper, rye, and tons of ginger.. too much spice for me.. hot peppery alcohol on the finish.. again interesting, but it wasn’t for me. Medium-bodied, but the spices served to better define the character of the beer.. good one to try once.
mkobes (1963), New York, USA May 16, 2008 Bottle. Straw yellow in color with a little white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Lemony citrusy hoppy oregano aroma. Grassy spicy notes. Malty yeasty flavor. Coriander notes. Finish is spicy Medium bodied. Very drinkable. Nice beer. golubj (896), New York, New York, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle, thanks to puzzl for sharing. Light copper with an off-white head. Aroma is yeasty, grassy spices, and bready malt / rye. Flavor is the same, grassy spices and yeast, more rye malt, and slightly vegetal mouthfeel. Eyedrinkale (3017), Beer Town, New York, USA May 14, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Puzzl. Aroma has some bubblegum and lemon. Great looking beer with tons of lacing. Flavor is similar to Schneiders Hopfen Weiss. Peppery without much ginger. Decent wheat beer though. puzzl (1530), New York, New York, USA May 14, 2008 Bottle from Hailsquishface. Shared with a bunch of people, so this didn’t get to breathe or warm too much. Aroma is mostly wheat, weizen yeast, only a touch of rye. A very small amount of ginger in the flavor. The rye muddles what would be otherwise a decent wheat beer. Pretty unexciting, and very disappointed for the price.
