COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ē A most distinguished effervescent potable of total consciousness
ē Beer Type: High Gravity Rye Ale fermented with Weizen yeast and aged on fresh ginger

Ginger in the Rye is a deep, golden color that has a strong ginger aroma. The zing of fresh ginger mixes well with the pepper spice that comes from the copious amounts of rye.

12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass. Appearance is a hazy golden-orange with no head. Aroma is wheat, banana, rye, and a sour scent like lemon. The taste is similar, but it is also sweeter. I can definitely taste the ginger. Smooth and crisp feel. Itís not bad, but Iím not a big fan.

Bottle: Muddy, orange-amber with some copper highlights. Dark hued for a hefeweizen. Nearly opaque, mild translucency at the edges. Even a straight pour produces a measly, thin white film on top... Again, atypical for the style. The nose comprises of LOTS of ginger with very apparent hefeweizen yeast. Typical notes of peppery clove, bubblegum, & banana esters are there, but play secondary to the ginger. Ginger is even more potent on the palate. Spicy, but not too abrasive thanks to the chunky balance of clove, white pepper, & yeast esters present. Some vague fruity sweetness in the aftertaste, hint of sugary sweetness with lingering clove & ginger. Decent mouth feel, chewy & pretty thick. Unique, but basically ginger root dropped into merely a decent hefeweizen. I donít normally love ginger but I think it works somewhat well with the hefe yeast flavors. Just needs to be toned down a bit, maybe.

750 mL bottle from jtclockwork. Thanks! Pours a hazy amber color with a huge foamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of toasted caramel malts, rye, apple, spicy ginger. The taste is strong ginger, earth, spice, lemon, toasted malts, rye. Medium bodied, lingering lemon and ginger.

In short: A sweet rye beer overwhelmed by ginger. Not for me.
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed (probably fresh) immediately after receiving it from cetherid, thanks Chris .
The look: Cloudy orange body topped by a white ring of foam.
In long: Aroma and taste is just what the name implies. Ginger, rye and then more ginger. I was excited to try this beer because of the Rye part of the name (Iím a rye beer lover) but I was also scared because of the Ginger part of the name. Sadly it is the ginger that overtakes the beer and totally ruined it. And to make matter worse there was also quite a bit of residual sugars. More of a gimmick than a real beer, a gimmick that some may like, but I sure didnít. I didnít finish y bottle, a tiny 12oz bottle. I know this is a mean rating but it is not because Iím a Canadian that I should always be fucken polite, also Iím sorry I used a big f-word, I wonít do it again I promise.

On tap at 2013 GTMW, pours a clear orange with an white head, the aroma was of a lot of spice and just a little bit of fruit with it, the flavor was of pretty heavy spice and rye with a little bit of hops showing up in the finish, not bad.

Bottle. The pour is a bright hazy orange. The aroma is powerfully rye. The taste is mostly rye, with faint hops. Interesting and drinks smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Quite an interesting beer with a unique palate. Tastes a bit like an imperial hefeweizen with ginger added. Has strong flavors of banana, cloves, and spicy ginger.

Bottle. Pour is a hazy orange with an initial nice white head that resides quickly. Aroma is a ginger, sweet, spicy. Taste of ginger is strong going sweet to bitter but is nice, crisp and refreshing. Overall not to bad of a beer. I think with changing the amount of each ingredient it could be better. Same with Nice Spice. Less or more of one thing can change it and make it better. But again overall a pretty solid one if you like ginger and hef's ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Bright golden orange with a minimal orangey white head. Strong ginger and spice aroma. A bit like a ginger snap. Tastes similar with a bunch of additional orange flavor. The aroma and flavor was much more pleasant as it warmed.
