COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pub Brew. Gone Commando is a Vienna lager brewed with black currants, giving the beer a purple hue. Light grain and yeast aromas disguise the initial sweet and tart shock provided by the use of specialty malts and dark fruit. Gone Commando has a slight bitterness in the finish which is accompanied by herbal and tea flavors with lingering fruity accents.

Growler: The aroma consists of light black currants, toasty notes, and faint roasted nuts. It pours a slightly hazy amber with a two finger pinkish-white head that leaves behind some sporadic webbing. The flavor starts with light-moderate black currant and faint sour grapes. The finish has light toasty notes and faint nuttiness. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

Sampled at GABF 2013. Pours a hazy brown with some thin white head. Nose is vinous, grape jelly, malt, candy. Flavors of perfume, wheat, grape jelly. Clean finish. Could be good, but not quite there.

On tap at GABF 2013, had big aromas of grain and some very light tart berries, taste is really light berries, let down.

On tap at the brewpub...didn’t care for this one too much. Purplely beer is kind of cool, but the current flavor didn’t strike me the right way at the time. I’d like to have another taste of this on its own sometime as I think it may be better than I’m giving it credit for.

On tap at the brewpub. Amber pour with a purplish hue. Malt and dark fruit in the aroma and taste. Mild bitterness with a light bodied finish. Nice sessionable brew.
