3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a nice caramel brown color bordering on chestnut. Nice white head and a bit of lacing. The nose is really nice, with some sweet and roasted brown malts along with some nice piney, floral, and earthy hops. Really love the concept, as this seems to be done differently than the typical hoppy brown. The taste scales back a bit with some slight bitterness, roast, and slightly-sweet malt. Good body and carbonation with a nice level of bitterness. Drinks quite well and Iím glad that put this into bottles.

Pours dark brown with some light brown foam atop. Nose is definitely hoppy, light grass, fruits, gentle caramel malts, breads. Taste is moderately sweet but balanced. Full body and creamy smooth with light carbonation. Just slight alcohol presence in the aftertaste. Overall a pleasant twist on a brown.

Bottle from whole foods. Pours dark brown redish small head. sweet aroma. Nice lace remains. cloying, sweetness, tart, warming. Not a good balance or finish though. Itís not offensive, just not something that makes me want to go back for another sip. Doesnít really taste like a brown ale to me--was hoping for some carmel, brown sugar and good rounded flavor.

A big thanks to PhiDelt for this extra...12 oz bottle into my Narke tulip.
Dark brown pour with a nice tan head, good retention and lacing...The aroma is really, lots of clean fresh hops, a little earthy dirt, and coffee...The taste is really pretty nice, lots of flavor, coffee undertones throughout, some light peanuts, and dirt as well. I normally donít like browns but this is really really good and flavorful. The feel is pretty good.
Overall, a really nice new take on a brown ale, worth a shot for sure.

Via trade with rayl101. (We donít get Shorts around here.) Dry hopping dominates the aroma, earthy, citrusy and peach hops to be exact. Light funk too (???). The appearance is opaque deep brown, light tan head. The flavor is sour, almost funky, earthy, hoppy...again the dry hopping dominates. Under this is caramel, nuts, chocolate. The body is medium to medium/thick. The finish is wierd earthy and resiny hops. Wierd but interesting. Thanks, Kevin.

Bottle thanks to wnoble. Brown pour, with off-white head. Aroma is deffinitely dry hopped, lots of bitter, tropical fruit hops. Flavors of roasted malt, light nuts and fruit, and bitter hops. The tropical fruit is very subtle in the flavor. I am glad that tried it.
