COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Good Humans was created to showcase one of Briess Malting Company’s new malt varieties. Originally planned as a one-time thing, it quickly became one of our big successes. Good Humans is a Double Brown Ale made with Carabrown Malt, and then dry hopped with Simcoe hops. The brew has sweet malty esters that are met by huge toasted caramel and toffee flavors. The finish is dry with a bouquet of hops.

Bottle. Pours a dark murky reddish-brown with a huge foamy cream head that lingers. Aroma is sweet and hoppy, with malt, dark fruits, sugar, wood. Taste of sweet malt, citrus hops, wood, dark fruits. Lingering sweet and hoppy. The bottle’s aged a bit too long, but still pretty tasty.

From notes. First reviewed 1/31/2011. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. The color of the beer is walnut brown, with a ruby tint in the edges of the glass. A creamy head with an eggshell hue forms initially, eventually fading to a ring and leaving a little lacing on the glass. I am not really getting any dry hopped aroma. Roast malt, some molasses, and dark fruits - fig and raisin mostly, but a very modest aroma. Molasses, plums and figs introduce the flavor up front, followed by some roasted malt and soft nutty flavors. There is a light citrus and spice kick at the end, but there is just not much hop presence here. Good Humans is lightly sticky but mostly clean. Medium carbonation and a medium body. I was expecting a dry-hopped brown ale, and I got mild dark fruit and much hop presence. Maybe this was just a bad bottle based on the other reviews, but there was almost no hop presence.

12 ounce bottle pours a murky reddish brown color. Aromas of citrus, malt, caramel, and hops. Flavor is malt, caramel, citrus and tons of hops. Interesting beer overall.

Bottle. Pretty reddish brown with thick steady cream head. Nose is metallic and lightly fruity. Flavor is sour, acetic cherry, more metal. It’s seriously infected. I know because I had this once before and it was not infected then and tasted more like a hoppy brown.

What’s with the name? Bottle from SanChez in Grand Rapids, MI. Dark brown with a good head. Dark malty aroma with fruity hops. The taste is malty, with moderate hop taste, and some peppery spice. The aroma really elevates this beer to something greater than it would otherwise be; dry-hopping really made sense here. Sipped from a long tall glass, every sip was greeted with a delicious scent.

from the bottle poured a reddish amber with a light tan head. When I opened the bottle and poured the beer into I took a small sip and got a big hit of chocolate.aroma molasses, malts, chocolate, hops. flavor same as aroma with a nice sweetness at the finish

beautiful reddish brown color. slightly sweet, with hops coming through nicely at the end. Definitely more of a brown ale than a hoppy beer, with a slightly sweet citrusy flavor that’s quite tasty at the end. Good beer to sip.

Bottle. Clear deep amber body. Frothy, off-white head. Aroma of toasted grain, biscuits, caramel, earthiness and pine. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. Nice balance. Notes of earthiness in the taste along with roasted malt, grass, sugar, all balanced with a lingering bitterness.

Bottle. Dark caramel color, cloudy, very light thin head. Malty and hop aroma. Thick beer, not quite syrupy, finish doesn’t linger too long. The Brown ale dominates, but the hops also show through. Alcohol presence is clear.

Nephilium (1312) - Ohio, USA - JAN 10, 2012
This starts off with an interesting pine hop aroma. Pours a deep ruby red, with a quickly fading light tan head. The flavor is different, there’s a strange combination between the roasted brown notes, and the piney hop notes. There’s a bit of alcohol heat noticeable. This is a medium bodied beer. I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one... it’s something that may grow on me, at the present I’m not overly sold on it.
