1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
Moderately dark brown/amber appearance, small eggshell head on aggressive pour. Nose is coffee, chocolate, toffee with mild floral hops and some boooze. Taste is way less hoppy than I was expecting for a dry hopped imperial brown/american strong ale. Booze, chocolate, and floral notes on palate. Finish is a bit off sweet. Not what I was expecting, but drinkable. OK, but would not buy it again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Murky brown, neat ringed eggshell head. Musty spice, wee bit burn. Neat brassiness throughout, hops are a bit dusty but let’s the malt sweetness gasp through. Fairly flat, creamy and a little bitter bite towards the finish. Linger is neat spicy sweet. Bottle.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared 12 oz. bottle poured to snifters, showing a cloudy, brownish copper color, with a modest hat of tan, froth & bubbles, and spots of lacing. The aroma intro was very earthy, with a fleeting, vegetal hint, roasted scent as cocoa, then toffee & caramel sweetness. The taste was similar, and moderately bitter, with a medium body, fair carbonation, somewhat hidden alcohol, and a touch of wheat or flake-like creaminess that livened the mouthfeel. Improved nicely after the questionable start.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Deep, deep amber & brown with an ecru head that leaves respectable lacing behind. Aroma loaded with chocolate wheat, rich caramel, & burnt brown sugar with an overture of floral hops & delicate pine resins bursting in & out. Like a hopped up, rich brown ale. (That’s the point, right?) Strong nutty flavor, backed with cocoa beans, toffee, & roasted hazelnuts, intertwined with roses, pine leaves, & floral hops. Bitterness hits mid-palate, eventually blunted by a soft, malty sweetness leading to a finish of caramel, dry cocoa powder, & roasted nuts. Hint of citrus peel, too. Strange brew? Maybe. IPA? Brown ale? Why not both? I can see why this is a polarizing brew, but I really enjoyed it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, courtesy my good friend Steve – thanks! Instant gratification when popping the cap; a robust, nutty and chocolatey dry-hopped scent quickly fills the air. The chestnut brown pour is crisp, topped with a finger of creamy beige head and scant lacing. Solid appearance. The taste is just what I’d expect from a dry-hopped Imperial Brown Ale, you know, based imagination since I’ve probably never had one. Good hop flavor, mostly florals, goes well with the chocolate, nuts, and roast. Robust, earthy, and perhaps a little rye. Something I wouldn’t drink a lot of, but a solid entry in the cleanup slot and it’s really hitting the spot right now.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
W aromacie sporo chmielu, lekkie owoce tropikalne, drewno i kawa, wszystko razem ładnie skomponowane. W smaku wytrawne, struktura kremowa, posmak drewniany z lekkim orzechowym muśnięciem, goryczka porządna z owocowym posmakiem, na finiszu lekka kawa zbożowa i goryczka chmielowa. Doskonały balans, dobrze ukryty alkohol. Bardzo solidne, złożone piwo.
