2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thin head slight sediment. Aroma is of malt and apple, some banana. Taste isnít good, not a very drinkable beer for me. Young apple, malt, dry after tasting finishing with old apple and bad breath. Mouth feel is too thin. They should do test batching at Shorts because some are home runs and then you have ones like this.... I think it may be infected... Phenols

12oz bottle. Dark brown pour, muddy, hazy center. Thin bubbly head with no lacing. Good carbonation. Aroma is somewhat spicy with hints of cinnamon and apple. Flavor is a little tangy and sweet. A good decent beer, but I guess I was expecting more.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle: The Belgian fruit scent is really nice and enticing. Apple, yeast, and the Belgian fruitiness you get for most of those brews. Appearance is clear amber color with a thick tan head that lingers. Taste has upfront nice light malt characteristic, yeast, fruit Belgian tones, and light apples. Palate is quite carbonated with a rather dry aftertaste. Overall, Itís a decent brew but nothing thatíll blow you away. Cheers!

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hazy brown color. Aroma is Belgian yeast sweet fruit, but taste is sour fruit and hop bitterness. Aftertaste is not pleasant. Seems to be a mono-bitter with no fruit or Belgian tastes left.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep hazy orange-brown body, thin to medium clumping, buff head. Toasty nose with brown sugar, fruity esters, clove, and hints of apple. Complex body, sweet and fruity, with brown sugar, notes of banana, clove, and bubblegum, finishing slightly tart with hints of apple, spice, and crackers. Quite good.

Bottle: The aroma is a strange combination of banana, Belgian yeast, apple, caramel, and faint spice. It pours a transparent dark copper with a small off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The flavor starts with some light caramel, Belgian yeast, and banana. The finish has some light apple and roasted nuts. Overall, the Belgian yeast isnít working for me in this combination of flavors. Light-medium bodied with mild carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from my trip to Michigan. Pours a rich dark amber, fiery orange edges and a touch of haziness. Frothy tannish head sits atop, moderate sized, cakes somewhat and dies to an ok layer, laces ok. Aromas are quite apple cidery with pear and spicy yeast, bready and doughy malts mesh apple cider and a spicy Belgian ale, some darker toffee moves in, light florals, and more apples. Caramel, biscuits, honey moves in with a touch of vanilla and more spice. Initial is a bit more mellow, a blend of cider and crisp apples mix with touches of spice and cinnamon, faint sugar, honey is mellow and grows, toffee and biscuits, bready toast, light florals. Lingering vanilla, honey, and touches of spice. The apple cider is nice, the Belgian appeal falls out quite a bit as some richer malts and significant apple spice, vanilla, and honey add the real character. A touch of a dryness creeps in on the backend, not overly sweet, as the cider yeast seems to dry it out in addition to a light spice. Maltiness grows, perhaps a bit nutty, sweet biscuits and touches of toast. Really, for not necessarily being my thing, this beer is quite interesting and provides an interesting balance. Albeit, it you donít like spice or apple cider, this probably isnít for you. An interesting blend.. finish brings more dryness, perhaps some estery sweetness in the body, and a weird metallic bite as I get further into the beer... Hmm..

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From a standard bottle pours a light copper. Was ready for that Shortís crazy explosion of odd aromas and flavor but this one almost borders on mainstream. It does have a bit of some offbeat tangy notes. However it is mostly straight forward with some green apple and green raisin tones.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
an interesting blend of dubbel and other belgian strong styles, spicy and fruity and darkly sugared. lightly carbonated and amber-brown, mostly-white head. some slight alcohol heat, and not a lot of evidence of the cider except for some notes of apple and that itís not quite as malty as would be expected from an ale so dark. medium-bodied, probably from being cut with cider and itís a thinner finish than i expected, without the alcohol burn of a strong ale of this dryness. enjoyable experience but likely to be the only bottle i buy.

considering the fact that shortís consistently puts out underwhelming beers this one wasnít too bad. better than i expected. do i remember what it tasted like? not really. but iím fucking drunk what exactly did you expect?... oops, i just found half a glass leftover on my desk.. reminiscent of a belgian dubbel.. a little dry and apple-ly.
