Bottle:   Deep amber, moreso a burnt brown sugar, thin to moderate sudsy off-white head, little lacing.   Has an old apple sort of aroma, with a bit of bready malts, subtle spices.   Comes across as a very weak Dubbel on the tongue.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, but leaning thin.   Pale bready finish, some apple that to me tastes like its been sliced and browned for a while.   A little spicy on the finish.   Not bad, a little ordinary tho.

Hazy red - amber beer. Tidy pale tan head. Light crisp palate. Sweetish dry malt - toffee. Bubblegum esters underneath with subtle dark fruits for company. Minerally dry finish. Quite well joined up and despite the dryness - drinkable.

Short tulip pour post Extreme Beer Fest @ Sunset in Boston, March, 2011.
Muddling, dark amber pour. Flat head.
Smells of banana/Belgiany phenols, & some odd, still fermenting compote.
Taste is dried apple peel, bitter core, mushy bread, ugly alcohol, & too much leftover yeast.
Not my favorite experiment that weekend, but Short’s sure did deliver elsewhere.

The beer is dark copper to orange colored and fairly hazy. The head is 1’4" and leaves some random lacing on the glass. The aroma brings apples, coriander, malt, alcohol. Decent flavor, but unbalanced. Fruit is prominent, with some yeast, malt, and lingering spice. Apples taste ripe and soaked with alcohol. Light to medium in body. Moderate alcohol presence. Another fun beer from Short’s. Not something I need to try again. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-01-2011

28 sept 2012, bottle. Med dark ruby/brown, clear, no bubbles. Nose is nice malty brown ale and a sweetness that might be toasted apple peels. Thin body and slightly fizzy. Toasted bread, warm apples, cracked malt. Nice but I can’t find much apples or cider.

I am not getting this one. The aroma has some apple and some booze. The flavor has a lot of apple but nothing to make me think this has any Belgian influence. The finish is fizzy and thin.

Bottle. This is yucky. This tastes like a a amber ale that fermentation went awry. It has that bad apple cider taste that when I mess up a brew it tastes like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Courtesy of Jale at pre-DLD Flossmoor party. I honestly didn’t get much apple influence here. It seemed more like sweet malt up front. Maybe that was the honey dominating and keeping it sweet. Of course this bottle is a year+ old at this point. Tasty.

12 oz. bottle shared by a Good Samaritan at the pre-Dark Lord Day event at Flossmoor Station, 2012. Pours a cloudy amber color with a small off-white head. Notes of apples, sweet malts, earthy hops, honey, and very mild spices. Medium-bodied, with a surprising bitterness and otherwise smoothness. Mild carbonation.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Slow gusher upon opening. Pours hazy red orange color with a nice 2-3 finger dense khaki head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some decent lacing on the glass, with a ton of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big apples, apple skin, caramel, brown sugar, honey, bread, light cinnamon, and other spices. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Pretty much what was expected. Taste of apple, caramel, biscuit, pepper, molasses, dark fruit, honey, cinnamon, and other light spices. Fairly dry finish; but some lingering notes of apples, caramel, biscuit, pepper, and spices on the finish for a bit. A slight metallic presence noted, but it is not too noticeable. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Nice and smooth to drink as expected of 5%. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall a nice and interesting beer! Good flavor balance and smooth drinking. I enjoyed this one.
