COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hopstach typifies the boldness that comes from American hop varieties. The aroma is dominated by fruity ale yeast esters and fragrant grapefruit tones. Initial malt sweetness is low, and citrus fruit and floral hop qualities overpower any other perceived flavors. Aided by the addition of grapefruit zest, the finish is a sharp hop shock that electrifies the mouth, but is not overly bitter.

12oz. bottle, one of the better labels that I’ve seen. Pours a light clear orange with white head. Fantastic hoppy grapefruit aroma. Taste is super grape-fruity with some citrus, quite bitter finish. Good brew.

Very bitter tasting! Fresh, lots of hops and grapefruit zest. More mild aroma. Rich golden color.

On tap in pint glass. Cloudy pale gold with small white head. Fruit, mango, grapefruit, peaches. Medium light body, medium carbonation, light bitterness, light sweetness. Some oranges pith on the finish. Great beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a fine white head. Smells of citrus and grapefruit, hints of sweetness underneath. The taste of grapefruit is definitely there, though it doesn’t scream grapefruit in the way that Grapefruit Sculpin does; this is much better balanced. Fruity, citrus hops. A moderate bitterness that builds. Average carbonation; medium bodied; bitter, lightly dry finish.

Bottle (dated 05/29/15) to pint. Looks good; a mostly transparent orange with foamy white head. Smells and tastes of hops and biscuit with a moderately bittersweet medium-light to medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2014 Tap: Pure, goldenrod body with some amber towards the center; cloudy, foamy white head takes its time settling as it leaves some nice, webbed lacing on the glass. Aroma is a Citra hop explosion with heavy grapefruit rind, pineapple, orange peel, dripping wet hop oils, pine sap, resin. Hint of dankness... but dat grapefruit. Flavor is the same way - blast of bitter grapefruit. Dry & bitter. But not overly done. Lupulin gold with pine, resin, grapefruit, citrus rind, & unripe pineapple. Hint of peppery & herbal hops towards the finish, reaching back towards that pine profile. Clean, dry finish. No malt to be found. A delicious IPA, probably my favorite from Short’s.

12oz bottle, thanks to umich03jm. Hazy orange golden color. Thin ring of head. Some loose bits of lace. Medium body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Good bready malt. Citrus hop, light pine, good grapefruit zest. Very balanced flavor profile. Very easy drinking and refreshing. Good moderate bitter, lighter sweet taste. Awesome stuff. Like so many Shorts beers, very easy to drink. So poundable. I love that. Great stuff. Big thanks to Jason for this one. The type of beer you could drink all day. I’d write and contemplate more on this but my beer disappeared. Would be worth getting a sixer of this.
