3.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured into a Samuel Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. The appearance on this one is a really hazy yellow color. The head isn’t very big, and doesn’t last long at all. Very little lacing left in the glass as well. Aroma is unbelievable, and one of the best smelling beers I’ve ever whiffed -- massive grapefruit and tropical smells... truly outstanding. Unfortunately, the taste was a bit of a let down. The front of each sip tasted almost exactly like the aroma -- sweet, grapefruity. The rest of the sip and aftertaste though was primarily of bitterness, and it didn’t have me jumping up and down. The carbonation isn’t harsh, but the bitterness in this make it much more of a sipper’s IPA. This site calls it a pale ale, but Hopstache is no doubt an IPA. A fantastic smelling beer, but a slight let down flavor-wise.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a bottle dated 5/29/2015.
Aroma is moderately malty with some cracker malt notes and light toasted bread. Moderate grapefruit aroma with some pine resin and some dank wood notes. A bit of an odd phenolic note similar to decomposing wet grass.
Pours a hazy, dull, golden orange with a small, moderately thick white head that exhibits decent retention as it recedes to the edges where it lingers. Moderate lacing and small legs.
Flavor starts with a light sweetness and some cracker and light caramel notes. Moderately strong bitterness. Moderate grapefruit notes with some lighter orange and pine resin. A light dank note with some lingering cracker malt character. None of the weird note that was in the aroma.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, an alright beer but grapefruit sculpin is much better. The odd aroma is off putting, but the flavor is better. The flavor is pretty light on the grapefruit zest though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pretty pronounced grapefruit aroma. Malt is quite subdued, just a bit of a bready aroma.
Light amber color and just slightly cloudy. Slight off white head.
Taste is a fairly heavy hop bitterness; pretty dry and crisp, not much sweetness.
Medium body; carbonation is just a touch lively; finish is rather long and bitter, but crisp and clean.
Overall this is a good IPA; the grapefruit is prominent, but works well due to the crisp, clean taste or texture.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
The aroma is excellent. The appearance is as well. It taste very similar to all of my favorite IPAs, only with a touch of grapefruit. It hits the palate perfectly. I give it a 100.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a fine white head. Smells of citrus and grapefruit, hints of sweetness underneath. The taste of grapefruit is definitely there, though it doesn’t scream grapefruit in the way that Grapefruit Sculpin does; this is much better balanced. Fruity, citrus hops. A moderate bitterness that builds. Average carbonation; medium bodied; bitter, lightly dry finish.
