A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

Hoppy aroma with pineapple, bready malt and toffee, sweat (yes, sweat); dull, dark golden color with a bubbly off-white head; slightly sweet toasted malts, cooked grapefruit, something leafy, weird rye bread crust or nutty/peppery something that I don’t much like in the middle, dried fruits mixed with fruit pits, ample bitterness with resiny flavors, astringent finish; medium-full body, smooth; I don’t really like this IPA much at all, but my girlfriend seems to be enjoying it. 121 fl oz bottle from Trader Joe’s in Cincinnati, Ohio.

On tap at Rozi’s. Aroma of rye malt and some piney hops with a little astringent alcohol. Pours pretty light golden with medium head with nice lace. Flavor is same as aroma, toasted rye malt with bitter pine hops and some alcohol. Overall not bad ipa. Might not have rye malt but it has that flavor and finishes nice and bitter.

Bottle pour avg gold with moderate white head. Nose pine, light dank, hint of fruit hop, biscuit. Taste moderate bitter bite up front, pine and dank hop. Mild balancing sweetness. Lighter bitter finish. Just an old school IPA.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2016 A good go to IPA but nothing to get excited about. A nice light copper color and floral aroma.

Draft at Eulogy. Hazy muted dark gold with a soapy foam top. Fairly modest mouthful of pithy citrus hop resins. Light brown sugary malts. Some amber fruit. Apricot pits. Bruised peaches. Some dank grassiness. Sage. Spring onions. Spicy peppercorn finish.

Nice golden honey color citrus and yeasty nose some pine as well. Mouth feel a bit thin. Taste the malt a good bite from the hops a nice balance. Nice bitterness on the end. I will buy again.

Aroma is citrus, very light pine, hops and fruit. The flavor is citrus, English malts, a mix of English and American hops, grapefruit and a mix of slight heat and bitter in the finish. Surprisingly understated.

12 oz no date on bottle. Lots of bitter hops. Resinous, pine, fresh cut lawn, green weeds. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Just enough pale malt to hold it together.

12oz bottle from TRT. Pours a hazy straw color with a thick frothy white head. Aroma of older citrus, caramel malt, and finishing with rotted lemons. Taste bitter lemon, orange, and grapefruit, grass, and caramel malt sweetness. Def the best beer I’ve had so far from Shorts.

Aroma is yeasty and bread. Flavor is strange, biscuit, yeast bread wih a super bitter dry finish. Quite disappointed in this one. Was a hyper beer release and I think it was poor I would buy 1 before investing in a sixer
