COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

12oz bottle served in a pint glass A - Pours a glowing orange color with a 2 finger head that holds its ground and provides exceptional lacing. S - Earthy grass, spicy grapefruit, dank herbal notes, sharp and peppery. Small hints of malt aroma. T - Follows the nose with with juicy citrus, dank herbal, and sticky green hops. The hops are spicy and green showcasing solid bitterness. Light caramel malt shows up but the hops punish with a dry grassy bitterness. Finishes herbal and dry. M - Medium carbonation and body, crisp and sharp feel, very dry finish. The first beer from Short’s and I have to say well done. This is a no holds bar full flavored IPA with copious amounts of bitterness. A dry crisp inish closes out very nice. Glad I got a chance to try this. Serving type: bottle 09-15-2013

Bottle from trade with Cbuk1013. Amber pour with white head. Aroma is pungent pine, citrus. Taste is nice balance of traditional hop flavors - resin, orange, grapefruit. Malt helps to balance the sweetness. Lingering bitter finish. Awesome.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, to some grapefruit, hints of orange peel, lemon in there as well, touch of slight spice in there. Taste is a mix of earth, grass, pine, hints of caramel into some orange, grapefruit, slight spice, finishing fairly bitter. Not bad.

12oz bottle. Nice aroma of pine and faint citrus. Flavor is intense pine resin, bitter and bitterer with a toffee malt finish. (maybe some peanut brittle too). Teeny bit of oily citrus at the finish. A marvelous IPA, a best-of-style.

bottle 12fl.oz (whatever that means, guess about 33 cc). Pours a cloudy orange with a minimal off-white head. Leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is citrus but more to the warm citrus aroma than a fresh aroma. If this makes sense, quite nice though. Maybe more to the malty side with overtones of bread. taste is complex hoppy with lots of citrus (again) and floral tones with a clear bitter finish that lingers. Medium body with a light carbonation. liked this beer

12oz bottle in a trade, thanks Devin. Aroma is floral, citrus, pine, and caramel. Flavors are pine, citrus, grapefruit, floral, caramel, and English malt. actually quite bitter and sweet. For being a hop bomb and a malt bomb it’s kind of balanced, if that makes sense lol. Great beer!

ClubGonzo (3854) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 7, 2013
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy deep orange body with a small white head. Nose is piney syrup tones, cacti, leaves and hints of grass and citrus. Taste is pine, citrus peel, syrup, grainy caramel and hints of grass, herbs and peaches in the back. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Another American IPA which was probably quite different (and most probably quite a bit better) before it undertook the long journey to Bergen via lots of stops. Still very nice, though.
