A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

Bottle @ In ’t Klooster, Delft. Pours a golden beer with a clean white head. Aroma: hoppy, fruity, cascade? Taste: bittersweet, hoppy with a very bitter finish. Very impressed, lovely beer! Long lasting bitterness.

Dégustée (bouteille, 6.6% ABV) le 8 juin 2012 au Mondial de la Bière 2012 à Montréal (D3C3KPPO). Bière blonde dorée foncée limpide. Aucun col. Assez effervescente, bulles fines. Odeur prononcée de petit fruits (berries). Douce, assez sucrée, très amère et épicée en finale. Goût de berries et de pain grillé. Très typée, assez corsée.

Crazy spicy and bitter beer. Mostly bitter. Fruit peels and orange notes. Draft at wicks park in saugatuck. Had this years ago, guess I wasn’t rating then. Good beer

I recently found the notes on this from a time I spent in Michigan. Though no date, I poured this into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice golden amber color with a decent transparency about it and a nice moderately carbonation rising at a nice pace to feed the one fingered white foamy head. There is a nice somewhat trickling stringy lacing gracing the sides of the glass. The smell had a nice bitter to sweet hoppy (citrus-like to malty-like) flavoring running about my taste buds. There actually was no aftertaste but there was a dry bitter finish. On the palate, it sat about a light to medium with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation had a nice assault on my mouth and tongue as a good AIPA should. Overall, this was a good AIPA well worthy of having again. There’s no disappointment here. This one delivers as it should.

Nice big citrus punch in the nose, pours a mostly clear light amber with a ring of white head. This is a big blast of hops, going to a long bitter finish. Slightly slick mouthfeel, with some caramel peaking through at the beginning. This is one delicious IPA, if you like hop bombs, try it.

There are few beers as bold and flavorful as this. Shorts can hang their hat on this bad boy.

Assertive and traditional pine/citrus hop aroma and flavor profile. Nicely balanced for a high IBU with sweet malty backbone that gives way to a dry hoppy finish.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2014 On tap poured into a shaker. The aromas are pretty prevalent caramel and citrus, with a light floral and resin note. It’s a slightly hazy amber orange with a light, white head with good lacing. The taste is highly bitter with a mellow, light sweet malty undertone. It’s a bit on the thicker side for an IPA, but not too bad ... moderate oily texture with a light, small bubble active carbonation. The body is medium-full with a grapefruit, resin, warm caramel, toast and a resin finish. Maybe more on the citrus peel side. The aftertaste is short and clean, mostly a traditional resin and grapefruit feel.

I love huma-lupa-licious! It is more on the hoppier side and is delicious. I get this beer almost every single time I see that a bar has is on tap.
