COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

355 mL bottle. Hazy copper with a small but thick white head. Really nice spicy, citrussy aroma. Tonnes of hops from beginning to end in the flavour, with resin and tangerine leading the way. Bitterness comes through at the end and lingers nicely. Great beer!

Draft at Crystal Mountain. Golden yellow pour. Really nice hop forward aroma. Dry, and plenty bitter with a great hop presence all around. Nice brew.

Wonderful hops aroma in a golden nectar from the gods. Exactly what you’d expect from such a highly rated IPA; great flavor without being over-the-top in your face like some who chase the incorrect notion of west coast hops assault in a haphazard manner. If this were available to me more often it’d be in my inner circle of regulars.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/29/2014. Pours hazy bright orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity of bright citrus/pine hops and moderate malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange zest, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity of bright citrus/pine hops and moderate malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, sticky, and slightly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity of bright citrus/pine hops and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

A little malty, but still a great brew. I've come to enjoy IPAs from Michigan in a big way. The color and flavor are unique just like the attitude from this brewery. Keep impressing Shorts.

12oz bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. bottled 1 month ago. Pours cloudy orange/copper with medium dissipating head. Aroma is heavy citrus- grapefruit, orange. Malty backbone. Resin. Taste is mildly bitter upfront, but it increases in the finish. Palate is medium body, thin texture. Long bitter finish.

Draft pour at Stella’s in GR. The nose is pine and sticky resin. A hoppy hoppy IPA that veers into hopslam style territory in bitterness but with less sweetness and restraint. Truly a favorite for hopheads - definitely not a beer to take lightly. Good stuff from Shorts

Bottle thanks to DrSilverworm - nose is resin, pine, and citrus, granted I’m a little stuffed up since I stopped taking my allergy meds. Malty backbone. Long and modetately bitter finish. Quite hoppy and I think the misses will enjoy.
