A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

It’s a hoppy mess. The almost overpowering hops kill most all the other flavors. Good thing they are great hops! Nice thick head that stays for the entire time with a lot of lacing. It poured a deep murky Amber that was just gorgeous. Floral aroma, citrus with a hint of pine and straw. Tastes like hops and not much else a hint of citrus and alcohol with a nice hay-citrus aftertaste. This is a great ipa but the hops are strong and there’s no malt taste at all to speak of. I would drink those again though.

Solid IPA. Curiosly sweet nose leading to intense bitterness typical for style. Solid effort.

Bottle thanks to MikeM409. Nose is super piney, citrus, and a slight bit of dank. Pours a slightly hazy orange color, small white head. Taste is immediately bitter with a follow up of orange and a lot of lemon. Not much malt character at all, just a tad bit of light toast and seems a bit thin. Definitely focused on hop bitterness followed by hop flavor. Seems to be more in balance as you drink more, but the bitterness always lingers into the finish in a very drying way, almost too much. Overall, a very nice beer that has a wonderful bouquet, but the flavor falls jus ta tad short.

355 mL bottle. Hazy copper with a small but thick white head. Really nice spicy, citrussy aroma. Tonnes of hops from beginning to end in the flavour, with resin and tangerine leading the way. Bitterness comes through at the end and lingers nicely. Great beer!

Draft at Crystal Mountain. Golden yellow pour. Really nice hop forward aroma. Dry, and plenty bitter with a great hop presence all around. Nice brew.

Wonderful hops aroma in a golden nectar from the gods. Exactly what you’d expect from such a highly rated IPA; great flavor without being over-the-top in your face like some who chase the incorrect notion of west coast hops assault in a haphazard manner. If this were available to me more often it’d be in my inner circle of regulars.
