5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 milewide (1219) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 28, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2011 On tap. Aroma and taste are hops bitterness. Dark amber color. Medium body. Medium head. No confusing this IPA for a water-lager!
Had first bottle on 4/13/09. Again felt that taste was almost all hop bitterness, especially an extremely bitter after-taste!
9/2/11 Rerate: My favorite IPA! Extreme herbal bitterness, with enough malt sweetness to keep it balanced. Cloudy, which I enjoy. Aftertaste is all hop bitterness, which I love. Always in my frig!

Very drinkable, tasty IPA - fabulous flavour, yet not overpowering in hops!

Great flavor finishes nice. Love me some hops! Comparable to Bells Two Hearted but with a bit better finish.

Killer amounts of hops not at all balanced with no where near enough malt to take the edge off the hop bill. citrus, floral, wonderful!
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 BeerSquare (114) - - MAY 30, 2012
One of my favorite beers ever.
The floral hugeness, sharp evergreen edge, and thick citrus syrup are all key elements but this is a very unique beer.
Palate is especially pleasant-- unique, sharp, champagney carbonation provides a mouth feel as big as the absolutely huge flavors.
This is a beer that generates immediate comments when served.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 2jayjay2 (10) - Warren, Michigan, USA - MAR 23, 2009
Having had this on tap many times I was skeptical about trying it in the bottle. But I was not disappointed. The beautiful orangish red color and the strong aromatic smell of hops invites one to caress the true example of an ipa. The lingering bitterness of the hops beckons for another taste of this wonderful IPA.

Huge rocky head, very fluffy! I needed to wait 15 minutes before I could finish pouring. Clear honey color, lots of refraction. Aroma is very strong herbs, sweet honey, agave syrup, earthy and not too citrusy, kind of like an old rye hot toddy. Flavor is just like the aroma, very earthy herbally and sweet, but still bitter. the malty backbone of this is so satisfying, almost chewy, even marshmallowy taste. Most amazingly, I still had huge chunks of head after 30 mins still floating around the glass. this is amazing, someone please honor my trade request to get me more!
bottle from a trade with StFun.

On tap at the brewpub. The body is hazy amber gold with a white head. The aroma was massive grapefruit with some almonds. The taste was strong grapefruit with some pecans. A nice clean and floral bitter finish. A great IPA.
