COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

Bottle thanks to Bigmmartin. Pours a goldish-brown with a thin white head, great lacing. Aroma is very hoppy, with a solid malt backbone. Notes of pine, citrus, and bread stand out. The palate is much lighter than I expected. Flavor brings out an earthy flavor. After taste leaves a nice bitter bite.

Bottle (12 oz). Courtesy of czar, thanks! Almost clear golden/amber with a small off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is of pine, caramel, some spiciness and earthy notes. Taste is also of caramel, malt, spices, earthy notes and medium bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Dry finish. Sticky bitter aftertaste. Decent IPA. Tasty, but too bitter and sticky for my liking. Not super easily drinkable.

One of the beers that got me into the craft scene. Hazy yellow pour white head. Resin citrus aroma. Lots of citrus and sticks taste nice malt body holding it all together. Moderate body and carbonation.

Tap: One of my first craft beer loves. Golden color, foamy white head perched on top. Huge hop resin & pine aroma with underpinning florals & herbaceous notes. Mild reminders of bitter citrus peels & rinds. Taste is exquisitely bitter, biting floral & pine with a counterpoint of grapefruit zest & citric undertones. Resin plays big in the aftertaste with a sustaining bitterness. Not much malt to speak of, but that’s what American IPAs are all about... Hope praise. Shorts’ flagship IPA is coincidentally one of their best.

Bottle via my buddy Jason. Pours a clear, light orange color with a creamy off white head. Aroma of light tangerine and hops. Very smooth bitterness is backed by a sweet maltiness. Flavors of fruity hops, lemon/orange citrus, grass, and a hint black pepper on the finish. Very delicious.

Golden color. Citrus and piney notes. Sweet with leafy pine flavor. Finish is bitter citrus.
