COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

Pours hazy yellow with a nice white head. Citrusy hop aroma that I would expect from a nice IPA. Very hop bitter that leaves a lasting impression well after the fact.

"A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth", sounds the advertisement on the bottle. American IPA with thick, gradually collapsing, sticky, pale yellowish head and warm orange blonde colour, clear with steady sparkling but turning a bit brownish after adding the deposit. Resinous hoppy aroma with grapefruit, mango, orange peel, mint, cloves, pine needles; fruity onset with light citrus touch, smooth and ’calm’ mouthfeel, some malt sweetness, quickly overwhelmed by a very intense, grassy and peppery hop bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit and tonic water, cloyingly dry, some yeast bitterness after adding deposit, complex and very satisfying. Great IPA.

Bottle from my friend Steve, Thanks! Pours a hazy orange with a small head. no residue on glass. Aroma is slight citrus with a hint of malt. Bitter but with a smooth finish. Not a Bad IPA.

Tap pour. Semi-opaque gold orange. White. Intermittent webbing. Earthy aroma of hemp, grapefruit and resin. Some pepper. Fresh and dank. Glad I had the chance to sniff this on tap. Taste is a little less well put together, but still super enjoyable. Solidly citric bitterness throughout. Sticky, green notes too. Full malt backbone. Good stuff.

Bottle from backlog. Hazy amber, white head, lacing. Aroma: light peach and other tropical fruits, vanilla, toffee. Taste: grapefruit and lemon + zest, light tropical fruits, grass, sweet and malty with toffee, vanilla, medium bitter, lots of blood grapefruit in the finish. Not sure how fresh this bottle is, but I liked it.

Bottle thanks to czar, thanks a lot bro! Pours a good copper with a medium white head that leaves really sticky and foamy lacing to the side of the glass. Nose is of hop oils, dank and a bit rough overall. This smells like what I imagine hard hop candies would, really. Taste is pretty sweet but also quite bitter; features caramel, resin and alcohol. It is a bit acrid, even. Anyway, body is medium and carbonation low to medium. Overall this was OK, a bit rough but still drinkable.

On Tap - cloudy copper color with nice 2 finger head. Aroma - mango, pineapple, lemon and pine sap. Taste - huge tropical fruit flavors with resiny pine coating tongue. Palate - best part of beer. Perfect medium body and lively carbonation. Resiny sticky hops coat tongue and mouth leaving you with full bitterness throughout each gulp!! Overall - one of my favorite IPAs on tap. Had this from the bottle also and not quite as good. Would be 4.6 on tap.

Received this through a trade and was impressed with Short’s brewery! A solid IPA that delivered a strong hop start and then mellowed out as it finished!

Bottle (12 oz). Courtesy of czar, thanks! Almost clear golden/amber with a small off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is of pine, caramel, some spiciness and earthy notes. Taste is also of caramel, malt, spices, earthy notes and medium bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Dry finish. Sticky bitter aftertaste. Decent IPA. Tasty, but too bitter and sticky for my liking. Not super easily drinkable.

pours hazy almost cloudy medium dark golden with a small off-white cap, some retention and lacing. sweet and spicy maltiness, doughy caramel, pine, citrus, lemonade ice tea, some earthy and herbal tea notes. moderately low carbonation, light body - oily and a bit sticky, assertive and balanced earthy-spicy-citrusy-piney finish. slightly above average ipa.
