A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

Draft. Pours a hazy light amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma was a burst of fresh citrusy hops, grapefruit, pine, and some sweet malt. The flavor is more fresh citrus hops, grapefruit, moderately sweet malt, herbal, pine, heavy dry bitter finish. The bitterness lingers for a while. Medium bodied, rough at the start, but very enjoyable.

Inn at Bay Harbor, Petosky, MI, draft. Very good IPA. Hoppy and bitter, yet crisp and refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle poured into a shaker at the Henry Hotel. Very hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and resinous notes. Flavor is all hops! Medium bodied and mildly astringent. One of the best IPA’s I’ve had!

Brutal.

Tap. Clear dark gold with a foamy, off white head that lasts and laces. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, leche, spice and caramel. Flavor is pine, caramel, biscuit, and grapefruit. Medium body, smooth with a slightly dry, bitter end.

Solid IPA. Curiosly sweet nose leading to intense bitterness typical for style. Solid effort.

Bottle thanks to MikeM409. Nose is super piney, citrus, and a slight bit of dank. Pours a slightly hazy orange color, small white head. Taste is immediately bitter with a follow up of orange and a lot of lemon. Not much malt character at all, just a tad bit of light toast and seems a bit thin. Definitely focused on hop bitterness followed by hop flavor. Seems to be more in balance as you drink more, but the bitterness always lingers into the finish in a very drying way, almost too much. Overall, a very nice beer that has a wonderful bouquet, but the flavor falls jus ta tad short.
