A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Liciousí name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Shortís best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beerís abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

From a bottle into a tulip, sparce, diminishing fizzy head with fair lacing, dark yellowish amber in color. Heavy grapefruity orange with a light touch of alcohol in the nose. Medium body, alittle thin, average carbonation, moderate sweetness with heavy bitterness from the large amount of hops. The short lived finish was alittle to quick, but still a good brew.

Oragne copper pour, nice head. Aroma of grass pine light citrus. Taste is earthy grass light malt and cramel notes. Good IPA but i prefer more tropical/citru

12 ounce bottle, last of a six-pack from Woodmans in Janesville, WI. Served from a Fitgers pint glass just above fridge temperature. I like IPAS cold, so sue me! A beautiful pour, with a creamy, lasting meringue head atop a translucent, golden body...aroma is sweet, sticky and pungent, the several hop varieties creating overall a musky profile that carries most of the typical IPA smells at once - citrus, resin, grasses, dry herbs, but overall dominated by a sweet (almost sickly-sweet) honey-wet bark character...on the tongue, sweetness hits first but is overwhelmed by a strong deep bitterness at midpalate, drying out considerably into a long, tingly finish. Body is very full, almost too full and verging on syrupy (this is why itís best quite cold) but that lingering dry, slightly woody finish very much saves it. On the whole, one of my favorite current Midwestern IPAs, and itís ease of drinking and lack of fuesal alcohol presence belies itís strength, just as it should be for a beer like this.

12oz bottle. Pour is golden with pronounced haziness. Head is rather thin but persistent. Hops aromas dominate on the nose. Citrus and fresh grain come to mind. Lots of tropical fruit (melon) combined with a sweet maltiness. Finish is more citrus and hops. I can see why this is a staple in there portfolio. Well put together IPA.

Quick burst of citrus hops that" falls off the cliff" quickly. But long after swallowing, a soft soft lingering floral hop bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Dark golden to light amber in color. Taller head that is mostly lasting, but ends up quite fluffy and leaves a nice sheet of lace. Dark caramel and mild licorice aromas dominate. Hints of zest and melon in the background. Medium body with a little oiliness and a touch of acid that zips things along. A bit woody in the finish. A bit more traditional. 5/10

Pillow off-white head. Mild bread and citrus aroma. Oddly soft on the palate. Strong flavor profile with nice citrus and tropic fruit on top of a solid malt sweetness that sneaks in just before a solidly bitter finish. Iíd like it to be a bit crisper on the palate.

Bottle courtesy of my friend Lance. Thanks! Cloudy golden amber with a short frothy off-white head. Nose is very floral and fruity with hop resins and sweet malt notes. Taste is big floral and citrus hops, light tropical fruit and big hop oil notes. Sweet malt backbone underlying the hoppiness. Body is medium with a slightly oily feel with a dense, creamy carbonation. Ends with more citrus, tropical fruit notes, big hop resins, citrus oils, soft malt and floral notes.

This is a West coast style ipa. Aroma is malt, hops, caramel. Flavorís similar to nose plus heavy bitter and just enough carbonic tang.

Wow cigarette ash taste. Wonderful. I don't particularly like this or the price I paid! It's got a strong upfront weird non hop taste and off flavor! Wtf. Smells bad too. I have 6 of these to drink. I'm screwed. I don't like it at all. Am I being an arrogant bastard? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
