3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
a bit thin but good flavor. This seems to be an interesting brewery, but this beer came across as just another imperial stout, although a bit thin.

Don’t remember who shared this gem at DLD, but thank you, thank you!
This was so much the same RIS you’ve had before but very different at the same time. Pours dark in color with no head. Taste is a much different choco profile than I ever have tasted. Somewhat crisp on the mouthfeel. Good, clean dark chocolate and roasted taste. Great beer.

phil... carob can not only replace chocolate ... but may be preferable... this provided a little somthing different nuanced mature a the carob gave this beer a little something it would not have had as a chocolate stout. thannks shorts for the continued innovation!!!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
DLD ’08. Thanks for sharing Yaniv. Dark dark brown with a thin tan ring for a head. Lightly sweet nose, chocolate and creamy without any alcohol presence. Creamy thick oily consistency, the strength of this beer. Sweeter flavor on the tongue, but soft. Roasty, but not brash. Some alcohol. Fruity. A bit of lingering alcohol peaks out from behind. Not a bad beer, carob can replace chocolate I guess?

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by ogglethorp: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma, dark bitter chocolate, earthy notes, slightly smoky, coffee. Flavor, earthy, chocolate, bitter dark chocolate, roasted notes. Really wish we had some good dark chocolate to pair with it, but alas, it was not to be. Pretty good beer though.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From a 750mL Bottle, #92/912. Purchased at the brewpub 9/2/07. Dark black, opaque, melted chocolate colored pour with a healthy head of creamy golden tan Lots of buttery diacetyl in the aroma initially, but as it warms, the diacetyl becomes a bit less pronounced, where it’s replaced by a pleasant toffee and chocolate pudding malt character. Some subtle notes of minty hops compliment. Medium bodied, sparkling carbonation with a shimmering effervescence. Flavors of chocolate pudding initially on the palate, but more of the buttery diacetyl character comes out after that. The finish dries up nicely, leaving flavors of mild baker’s chocolate lingering on the palate. This beer has a deep chocolate flavor and great toffee-caramel mid-malt depth without a lot of roast, but the enjoyment is marred by the presence of diacetyl. Hopefully there will be future versions of this beer that improve upon that problem.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sampled on 10/13/07: Pours a nearly opaque black with a frothy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark caramel and a touch of butterscotchy diacetyl. Body starts fairly full and rich with lightly sweet dark caramel and cocoa and a spicy peppery finish. An interesting beer, but has too much diacetyl.
