Flaske: Brunsort øl med et lille skumhoved. Kraftig duft af chokolade, spændende smag af johannesbrød, som også gør mundfylden lidt grynet. Rigtig god øl.

Bottle #245 of 912 sampled at the Hobsnobbery collective stout tasting on 1.16.09 courtesy of Rogueone. Black color with a thin beige head. Coffee and dark fruit aroma that is somewhat smoky. Flavor is sweet and a little smoky up front with a bitter coffee and hop finish. I really enjoyed this one. Shorts continues to impress.

Rogueone (506) - I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA - JAN 19, 2009
Sampled bottle #245 at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/16/09. Thanks to Rogueone for sharing. Thanks to Rogueone’s mom for picking this up while Rogueone watched her really obnoxious shih-tzus for the weekend. NIce dark pour here with a thin ring of tan head and a tad of alcohol in the nose. Additional aroma of dark fruits. NIce dryness of bitter chocolate, with a nice and velvety mouthfeel. The finish is definitely of bitter, unsweetened chocolate and had a slight aftertaste I did not care for completely. Sort of like vomit. I also learned from Wikipedia and just Life in General (LiG) that vegans use carob in their fantasies of eating desserts that taste like chocolate and animal fats like normal people.

Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 19, 2009
Sampled bottle #245 at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/16/09. Thanks to Rogueone for sharing. The beer pours black with a medium thin light brown head that recedes to an outer ring fairly quickly. Thick sliding rings of lacing on the glass. Chocolatey aroma with notes of doughy malt and dark fruit. Rich and smooth body with flavors of chocolate, java and grainy malt. The finish is sweet chocolate malt and mildly bitter coffee that lingers a bit. Overall a pretty good Imperial Stout. I learned on Wikipedia that carob can be used to relieve diahhrea in infants and as a non-toxic alternative to chocolate for dog treats, on top of being used in beer.

Black color. Solid Stout, quite Imperial, on the minus side there is some glue aroma, bread dough; on the plus side there is an unusual cookie touch. Good.

Thanks to JCB for sharing this bottle. Nearly black pour with yellowish tan head. Complex aromas. Soy anise, chocolate, and coffee. Roasty but with fruit as well. Quite tasty. I do not tend to like chocolate stouts, so maybe carob is a nice substitution for me...

emacgee (3445) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - DEC 12, 2008
Thanks JCB for sharing. Pours a dark black that allows some ruby light around the edges. 1 finger creamy tan head. Has a nice nose to it, upfront roast, bitter chocolate and coffee, mild sweetness in the aroma as well as a mild fruityness. The flavor is roasty, shows a bitter chocolate flavor up front that becomes much more intense the more you consume. Nice smooth coffee flavor, mild waxy hop feel, strong bitterness from the carob. Palate is nice and thick with a strong bitterness from the carob.
