Bottle #461 of 912. Pours opaque black with a creamy dense beige head. The aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and ripe dark fruit. The flavor is bitter roasted with notes of coffee, chocolate and ends up quite bitter. Very nice!

On tap at the pub. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste is malty and chocolate with a coffee finish.

Opaque black beer with a nose of dark chocolate. Palate is silky and a little dry. Rich unsweet dark chocolate, pretty full on. Espresso like bitterness. Not much else going on until the finish when a sliver of hop comes through. Okay but it’s bit one dimensional, really needs something to balance the bitter chocolate.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2012 (Bottle) Pours dark brown to black. The aroma is near medium toasted and light to medium roasted/burned with tones of chocolate, dark berries (blueberries and blackberries), nuts, syrup and a strange vegetal note. The flavour is medium to heavily toasted and medium roasted with tones of nuts, chocolate and berries. The mouthfeel is quite fat, light oily and medium carbonated. Bourned and light sourish finish. Medium to full bodied.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma of carob, espresso, chocolate. Flavour is the same with an extra chocolatey palate. Palate is full-bodied and complex.
