4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
from erzbierschof.ch - pours a dark black beer with a poor foam left; very roasted chocolatey malty aroma with notes of coffee, herbs and vegetables; full-bodied and very tasty; a solid bitterness and a long spicy/herbal, coffeish and licorice aftertaste; slightly thick - absolutely wonderful!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Beerlando you kick ass for sharing this. I have been wanting to try this forever! Pours a black color. Aroma is full of carob. And I am a product of 2 major hippies so we ate a lot of carob in my house. Just smelling it brought me back to a healthfood store we used to shop in. The flavor is full of carob, molasses, roasted malt and some strong coffee. I really, REALLY enjoyed this one!

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from the brewery. Pours thick dark brown with gorgeous brown head. Aromas of the carob, and I like it. A good changeup from regular chocolate laden RIS. Very rich filling drink, nicely done well above average mouthfeel. May be a tad of lactose, otherwise smooth and without coffee obtrusion.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sampled on 10/13/07: Pours a nearly opaque black with a frothy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark caramel and a touch of butterscotchy diacetyl. Body starts fairly full and rich with lightly sweet dark caramel and cocoa and a spicy peppery finish. An interesting beer, but has too much diacetyl.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big bottle purchased at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Cool logo. Dark, rusty brown body under a patch surface. Roasted malt to the nose. Taste of chocolate malts on a bitter liquorice backbone. Long lived ending with noticeable alcohol. Full bodied, but a bit unvaried (shared with Skinnyviking, Valby 10.09.2008)

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2007 bottle, #219 of 912. Poured very deep brown with very little going on for head.. just wisps of caramel. The aroma picked up Cap’n Crunch Berries, molasses, and dark chocolate upfront.. one of the most intriguing beers I’ve smelled in a while.. no alcohol noted, and another whiff of the Cap’n just scored it a 9. The flavor found a blend of dark fruits and chocolate at the core, along with a little more of the peanut-buttery Cap’n.. burnt chocolate and black patent malts plus a little berries toward the back-end.. sweet, warm, long-lasting finish. Medium-bodied with low carbonation and a lot of roast on the palate.. a touch tart.. a really good brew that aged delightfully.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled bottle #245 at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/16/09. Thanks to Rogueone for sharing. The beer pours black with a medium thin light brown head that recedes to an outer ring fairly quickly. Thick sliding rings of lacing on the glass. Chocolatey aroma with notes of doughy malt and dark fruit. Rich and smooth body with flavors of chocolate, java and grainy malt. The finish is sweet chocolate malt and mildly bitter coffee that lingers a bit. Overall a pretty good Imperial Stout. I learned on Wikipedia that carob can be used to relieve diahhrea in infants and as a non-toxic alternative to chocolate for dog treats, on top of being used in beer.
