COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pub Brew. Joyous Almondo is equal parts chocolate, coconut, and almonds, to create a brown ale delicacy unlike any other. Sweet aromas of chocolate and coconut emit from this brew. The first sip leads toward a perfect fusion of flavor, as chocolate and coconut embrace the toasted almond qualities. Pleasant almond flavors remain well into a finish, which is not too sweet, bitter or dry.

Growler: Back from April of 2013. Thanks to Jeff. Deep brown, mahogany body with an off-white, slightly gray-tinted head that dissipates away with no lacing. Great aroma of heavy coconut butter, vanilla, milky baker’s chocolate, brown sugar, toasted nuts, & a hint of woodiness. Doesn’t even smell like a beer, to be honest, more like a dessert. First sip hits with mostly sweet chocolate & cocoa nibs, a little thinner than desired. Preset notes of burnt caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts (not distinctly almond), with the coconut & sweet vanilla gaining speed as the beer warms up. Some alcohol heat becomes apparent, lingering with strong coconut & sweet cocoa in the aftertaste. It appears the keg of this may have turned sour/infected, as reviews a month after this are all very poor. This beer did not display any of the buttery, cloying, or sour off-flavors as others have described. Must have gotten lucky, this was consumed within two weeks of it going on tap. Lovely novelty brew for Almond Joy lovers - assuming you have it über-fresh.

Very muddy brown with bright white head. Smells like artificial butter toffee and grass, diacetyl-y, yuck. Average carbonation, slick buttery mouthfeel, buttery bitter/dry finish. Before I continue, I think this beer is probably a mistake or was stored too long. Malty sour buttery milkiness mixed with what certainly tastes like extract of coconut and mild almond (very artificial). I fully believe this beer is a mistake and shakespere’s got a shipment of it so shorts could get rid of it all.

Draft. Pours a muddled brown color with white head. Scent is coconut and butter. Tastes really buttery and sweet, with coconut and almond. Much too sweet.

Growler from the pub. Pours a hazy caramel brown. Smells like an almond joy, with coconut and nuts, toast and cocoa. Almost, but not quite, too sweet with a dominant taste of coconut. Great beer once in a while but a bit to out there for a regular, everyday pour.

Draft. Chocolate, coconut, and nut aroma. Amber with minimal head. Very sweet (not quite cloying but close) chocolate coconut and almond flavor. with alcoholic finish. Very nicely blended. Like eating an Almond Joy and chasing it with a bit of vodka.

Cloudy caramel brown. Nutty & coconut aromas. Medium bodied with lots of coconut, milk chocolate & nuts. Too sweet for me to drink too much of, but tasty, like an almond joy.

GABF 2011. Murky rusty brown, no head. Beautiful aroma of nutty almond, slight boozy alcohol, and a mild chocolatey tone. Flavor is nutty almond, light chocolate, and warm sweet alcohol. Big body with a long linger, with a good dose of toffee, just a little burnt and a little too boozy.

On tap pour was clear reddish orange with white head, aroma was big, almost artificial almond notes with some sweet biscuity, toffee, notes as well. Taste was lots of almond, sweet fruity and caramel notes finishing very sweet. While the resemblance to almonds was pretty cool, it was a bit much and a bit too sweet.
