Very muddy brown with bright white head. Smells like artificial butter toffee and grass, diacetyl-y, yuck. Average carbonation, slick buttery mouthfeel, buttery bitter/dry finish. Before I continue, I think this beer is probably a mistake or was stored too long. Malty sour buttery milkiness mixed with what certainly tastes like extract of coconut and mild almond (very artificial). I fully believe this beer is a mistake and shakespere’s got a shipment of it so shorts could get rid of it all.

Draft. Pours a muddled brown color with white head. Scent is coconut and butter. Tastes really buttery and sweet, with coconut and almond. Much too sweet.

Growler from the pub. Pours a hazy caramel brown. Smells like an almond joy, with coconut and nuts, toast and cocoa. Almost, but not quite, too sweet with a dominant taste of coconut. Great beer once in a while but a bit to out there for a regular, everyday pour.

Draft. Chocolate, coconut, and nut aroma. Amber with minimal head. Very sweet (not quite cloying but close) chocolate coconut and almond flavor. with alcoholic finish. Very nicely blended. Like eating an Almond Joy and chasing it with a bit of vodka.

Cloudy caramel brown. Nutty & coconut aromas. Medium bodied with lots of coconut, milk chocolate & nuts. Too sweet for me to drink too much of, but tasty, like an almond joy.

GABF 2011. Murky rusty brown, no head. Beautiful aroma of nutty almond, slight boozy alcohol, and a mild chocolatey tone. Flavor is nutty almond, light chocolate, and warm sweet alcohol. Big body with a long linger, with a good dose of toffee, just a little burnt and a little too boozy.

On tap pour was clear reddish orange with white head, aroma was big, almost artificial almond notes with some sweet biscuity, toffee, notes as well. Taste was lots of almond, sweet fruity and caramel notes finishing very sweet. While the resemblance to almonds was pretty cool, it was a bit much and a bit too sweet.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 NobleSquirrel (3286) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 19, 2011
Draft at GABF. Penny copper with offwhite head. Nose is sweet with butterscotch interplay and cherry stone almond extract. Some cocoa sort of shows up but not really. On tasting, slick and buttery with some toasted coconut and almond. Also showing some phenolic notes as well. Doesn’t work for me, though a good idea.

Sampled at GABF. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma of Almond Liqueur, nuts, mild cocoa. Flavor is quite sweet, too sweet, with a bit of nutella and fudge with almonds. Very very sweet. Slick mouthfeel. This is not one of my favorites from Short’s. I guess you can’t hit a homerun every time.
