COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An experimental IPA made with blue spruce tips, juniper berries, and cranberries. Piney evergreen and sweet berries tingle the senses. After some slightly tart and tangy flavors up front, a harmonious balance between pleasant fruit sweetness and bitter pine is reached. A sizable malt bill, ample hop additions, and the floral fruity qualities of American Ale yeast all contribute to symmetry of this beer. The finish is laced with a resiny stickiness that flows naturally into a lasting bitterness. 7.5% ABV

12 oz bottle - really confused about this one . Pours a clear orange thin bright white head . Aromas of cranberries and big spruce . Exactly as advertised , tastes like bitter juniper / cranberry / and spruce . The beer drinker in me does not like it , but the inner gin drinker is kind of into it . Interesting .

Juicy tree pours a mostly clear yellow with a slight tint of orange with an ivory head that lasts a fair amount. The aroma is berries, citrus and pine. The flavor is berries, citrus and pine. Overall this is an enjoyable beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

What the fuck is this? It taste like shitty hi-c but with alcohol. Spruce tips make it taste fruity when you mix the berries and all that shit. Not sure this is beer.

12oz Bottle. Thanks, Sean! Cold aroma belies hoppiness and gin aromatics. Flavors begin as terse soapiness. I like all these things, hops, spruce, juniper, and cranberry, but I think that, unsurprisingly, when you put them all together, it’s going to taste like soap. That’s unavoidable, even in restrained quantities, I think. Tonight, I’m okay with it. I wanted something bitter and herbal to soothe an irritated stomach, but I have a hard time imagining this as a tipple of any other utility, aside from membership in Short’s continuing cadre of novelty. My mom makes a spruce and cranberry soap, not unlike this beer.

Hold pour, white head. Very interesting. Christmas trees, cranberry, juniper, citrusy hops. Quite an experience to drink this. Odd but good.

Draft, pours a hazy light copper. Taste is heavy on the spruce, combined with berries and pretty bitter. Very unique and interesting.

On tap at Blackthorn Pub, Holly,MI...Wow, there’s a lot going on here and while not the most harmonious blend it is nonetheless a wildly flavorful beer that is wicked fun to drink. A Xmas tree in a bottle...and decorated at that. This would put a light beer drinker in his/her grave!

Bottle from cbuk. Aroma is cranberry, fir tree, lemon. Taste is...wow. Like you took a Christmas tree and wrung it out into a bucket of cranberries. There's also some lemon notes but this predominately tastes like the spruce. Not close to my favorite but I give them points for originality.

Extra from mike. Thanks man. Aroma had lots of cranberry and pine hops. Taste starts out with sweet berries but then immediately switches to pine and cedar. Almost like drinking a Christmas tree. Not overpowering at all.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazed orange pour with a small white head. Aroma of juniper, cranberries, mild pine and fruit notes. Flavor is kind of an odd hodge podge of juniper, resin, and berry sweetness. Not something I would describe as balanced. Medium bodied, lively crbonation, finishes with a lot of juniper and pine notes. I

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/16/2013. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, tart cranberry, juniper, floral, spruce, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop, fruit, spruce, and malt motes; with great strength. Taste of tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, cranberry, spruce, juniper, pine, floral, grass, light honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of pine bitterness and light cranberry tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, lemon zest, cranberry, spruce, juniper, pine, floral, grass, light honey, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice balance and complexity of hop, fruit, spruce, and malt flavors; with a great hop/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly slick, crisp, and sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced IPA style. All around good balance and complexity of hop, fruit, spruce, and malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
