Key Lime Pie is made with fresh limes, milk sugar, graham cracker, and marshmallow fluff. The prominent flavors are immensely sweet, then tart, with subtle hints of graham cracker coming through in the nose and remain on the back of the palate. Key Lime Pie is a Gold Medal Winner at the 2010 Great American Beer Festival.

On tap at The Kalamazoo Beer Exchange, gold and amber pour with an off white head. Aroma is just like a Key lime pie, taste has lime and tasty goodness. Not usually a fan of this type of beer, but very good!

12oz bottle thanks to northernbrews, thanks Jeff! Pours a clear copper red with no head and lacing, aroma is sweet with some marshmellow and a hint of lime, the flavor has a little more lime than the aroma does, not as much as I was hoping for, mouthfeel is a little light, cool beer to try.

12 ounce bottle shared by Gillard, thanks Ryan, poured a copper rust color, with aromas of marshmellow, gramcracker, fresh squezed lime, and some light caramel. Flavors are a tad sweet marshmellow up front with some light tart lime in the back, interesting beer, glad I got to try this one.

12oz bottle from Tiffany's, Kalamazoo Michigan. Pour is hazy brown/copper. Trace white suds on top. Lime peel and homemade whipped cream scent, strangely accurate though I should say the lime scent is also reminiscent of lime away cleaner. Low carbonation at first with a watery mouth feel, feels bubblier upon swallowing. Tastes like very tart key limes with a light beer like corona. Not like they were mixed by the drinker, like they were deliberately brewed together. They pull it off well on this one though. Finish has some heat which I assume is from the large citrus content, pretty clean though. I like about 50% of the stuff I get from shorts but not usually their zany beers that are supposed to taste like other things (pb and j, strawberry shortcake, etc.) but I do like this one. Good enough to try one, not a whole 6pack. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pour is a darker amber color with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Nose has tons of lime, faint vanilla and cracker. Taste is artificial lime, bitter behind, light vanilla, lingering bitterness, lighter body, decent carbonation. Flavors are a bit flabby, and there is an off chemically flavor.

Absolutely had to try this, of course. Poured cloudy orange with pretty much no head. Nose mainly of rose’s lime juice and graham crackers. Taste was sweet, but really tart especially on the end. Heavier bodied, smooth, and oily on the palate. A novelty, and I’m glad I had just a sample. It would be fun to pair it with the real thing and see how that works out. Glad I got to try it.

12 oz. bottle, sent from northernbrews (thanks Jeff), pours an opaque dirty orange with a tiny white head. Nose screams limes above anything, with maybe a bit of the graham crackers buried deep under. Flavour is much sweeter than the nose suggests, probably from the marshmallows, as they are quite prominent, and then the lime comes in adding only very mild sourness. Quite a bit sweeter than expected, but certainly not cloying. As I’m not a huge lime fan in beer, this was substandard, but for what the concept was, it’s passable.

Awful. Strong lime, which is good, on the start. But has a decaying indescribable taste on the finish. Could not even muscle one pint down. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Served on tap in a pint glass at Red Baron. Inside my pint glass is a hazy orange amber beer with just a few stray bubbles floating around the edge of the glass. The aroma is less intense than I would prefer, but it is spot on key lime pie. Graham cracker, lime, and cream are all present over a thin malt base. Getting a beer to taste like key lime pie is a brewing accomplishment, even with all of the adjuncts that Short’s used. The beer has a nice progression - first the flavor is sweet and tangy, representing the sweet side of the custard filling. Next the graham cracker crust comes in, bringing a malty, vanilla, and cinnamon sweetness with it. Finally the lime bursts through in a tart way, wrapping up the flavor with pizzazz. The carbonation is gentle and falls in between crisp and creamy. There are a lot of residual sugars in here that leave my mouth feeling sticky. The body drinks a little bit above the 5% ABV, although not by much. The creamy lactose and unfermented sugars definitely add to the viscosity of the ber. This is a fun beer from Short’s that is worth trying fresh on tap.

I try to be as open minded as possible. This, however tastes like one of those cloying Asian premade marinades from the grocery store. Not for me.
