Crushed at GABF ’10. Saw this won the gold for experimental too. The only kind of dessert I enjoy, and they nailed it on this one. Lime and pie crust. Pretty damn cool.

Draft. Hazy amber body, small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, lime, graham cracker(!). Taste is moderately sweet, lime, sugar, some lactose. Light-medium body.

Draft at churchkey. Pours an odd red color with tons of carbonation. Smells and tastes of key lime pie. Great for dessert and doesn’t have that artificial fruit taste that a lot of fruit beers have

Tap at ChurchKey. Pours a vibrant copper with a very lively amount of carbonation. Aroma of apple pie. Tastes of graham cracker, marshmallow and lime. Very sweet and a bit tart. I have no idea how this is beer but it’s surprisingly good.

At Short’s Brewing Monster Tap Takeover at Churchkey. Okay, I understand that this beer will not be everyone’s thing. It’s gimmicky. It’s silly. It’s really sweet. With all that said, it was *just* like drinking a key lime pie. The beer came and was a copper color, no head. The beer had a pretty bland aroma (certainly not bad, but no key lime notes), which made me a bit disappointed and worried when it first arrived. The first taste was initially average, and then it hit me. Lime. Graham cracker! Wow. I’d have to say that more than 8oz of this would probably drive me up the wall.

tepid tan, thin white ring. Meaty nose of brown sugar, iron, toasted malt, not much lime until the finish in the flavor. Heavy sugar in flavor, sticky residual body, metallic lime in finish.

Sample from bottle at tasting. Cloudy orange pour, small off-white head. Musty biscuit malt, sweetness, lime, and lightly tart. Interesting, but probably not the best choice of ingredients. Still I am glad to try it.

Bottle, thanks to GT2. Pure white head, hazy burnt orange. Lacto-sourness in the aroma with some vinegar and sour fruit. Lots of sourness in the flavor, and tastes slightly better than it smells, and has a bit of sweet caramel but some paper comes in too. Pretty gross.

Bottle shared at the CL Rosso Batch 3 Release. Pours clear orange, aroma of citrus and lime, grainy. Taste is fairly light with a citrus tartness. Interesting.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2011 355mL rating #100 for this beer thanks to tytoanderso. The pour is a cloudy orange with a small, diminishing head. No retention or lace. The aroma is very infected- and not the good kind: huge salad dressing vinegar, grapefruit salad with table vinegar and salt. Big acetic acid nose. Taste is really just gross- unpalatable: vinegar, spicy acetic, old fruit juice, powder and cardboard. Everything here is just so wrong. Drainpour. 5/9/2011 2/2/1/1/3=0.9

Tap at Shorts Tap Takeover at Churchkey. Surprisingly was not one of the infected beers on tap that night displaying Shorts’ proprietary alien bacterial strains known as SBC3830-X. This time I think I got to taste what was originally intended from this beer. A clear orange amber pour with scant white head. Nose does pretty much hit the key lime pie mark. Lots of graham cracker and even whipped cream. Lime is present and sharp but not really intense enough that I would yell, "This beer smells like Key Lime Pie!" Taste has the sharper lime and lots of graham cracker. Palate is a little sugary and heavy. In all honesty, the most key lime pie tasting beer is probably is Hair of the Dog Ruth, which is made with no adjuncts to add that flavor. That is why I find HotD Ruth to be one of the best beers in the world and this to be sort of a boutique beer. Fun. 6/2/2011 7/3/7/4/14=3.4
