On tap at the brewery. Pours a murky yellow with a foamy white head. Light crisp aroma, of lemons, yeast, and malt. Taste is clear and yeasty, with malt and citrus, that ends bready and with some bitter hops. Lingering clear bitterness. Nice kolsch.

On tap at the brewpub Golden pour with a medium white head. Aroma of grains, medium bitter hops, some fruit. Flavor is hoppy for the style with bread, cracker, and apple malt notes and mild piney hop notes. Crisp body with nice carbonation.

On draft at Churchkey in D.C. The beer appears a golden yellow and pretty clear with a thin white head that leaves random traces of lacing on the snifter. The aroma brings some grain, malty sweetness, and subtle fruit & floral notes. The flavor is quite good, and well balanced. This is one of the better examples of a kolsch I have had, especially from an American brewery. The sweetness is there, but I couldn’t see this beer becoming cloying. Nice grain and yeast flavors as well. I could put away a liter stein of this. Well done. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 06-16-2011

Straw yellow with a medium white head that fades away quickly. Aroma of toasted malt, mild skunk, pale malt and a touch of sweetness and grains. Taste is sweet and malty with corn, malt, lemon and faint citrus. Goes down easy with low bitterness and mild citrus on the finish.

Pours a mostly clear, yellow color. Not too much of a scent with some grains and wheat. Taste is rather malty while the texture seems a little too thin. There are some hints of citrus. Being my first Kolsch style beer, I’m not sure if this is good or not for the style. Quite drinkable, just wish there was some more volume and taste to the beer.

12oz bottle. Pale filtered yellow-tan, some chill haze. Thin head. Very thin bodied, with some lemony dry citrus hop balance. Light, delicate toasty malt backbone. An almost rindy, flavorless bitterness at times. Some faint skunky Pils undertones. OK.

Decent aroma with basic appearance leads to semi-complex taste and simple mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz Bottle. Thanks Sean! Peppery hop and pils malt aroma. Snappy and quick, but a little muddled. Flavors cover some good ground. The pils malt character is alright and there’s a fair amount of fresh hop juice and bitterness. I don’t know what the twist is, but I think it’s more hops, or maybe a citrus zest. The yeast work isn’t blowing my mind. There’s a lot of residual byproducts and a fair amount of soapiness. I feel like it needed some time in the cold conditioning cellar to smooth out a bit, otherwise, I appreciate the added bitterness.
