COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kolsch 45 is just what you need on a hot summer day. Kölsch beer originated in Cologne, Germany and is unique in that it is a warm fermented ale, but is aged like most traditional German lagers at a cool temperature. Though light in body and color, its prominent hoppiness and radiant yellow “straw” color sets it apart. As you taste Kolsch 45, you’ll notice that the head retains prominent, pleasant aromas. Light Pilsen and Munich malt aid in the crisp, refreshing nature of this beer. Hop bitterness is present without adding a lingering resonance.

12 oz. bottle from shrubber85- thanks again, Roger! Pours a cloudy yellow-gold with a centimeter or so of white head that settles into a lasting film and leaves a generous ring around the edge. Notes of straw, cracker, grass, sweet bread, and some fruitiness. Light-bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. So simple and easy drinking. Hit the spot.

12oz bottle, big thanks to phaleslu for sharing. BO: 07/01/14, so it’s nearing a year old I think... Hazy darker golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Leaves some bits of lace. Bready malt, some orange, pretty rindy. Bigger sweet taste, minimal bitter. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation. Slick texture. Touch of corn. Not great at the moment, but ok. Malty and sweet. Much better fresh, I’m sure.

Bottle, bought @YNWA Beershop, Kolding. Pours hazy yellow with a large, staying, creamy white head. Aroma has sweet malts, light lemongrass, cucumber, crisp malts. Medium, prickly carbonation, fine dry and light grainy mouthfeel. Flavour has sweet malts, kinda doughy, light grassy, somewhat citrussy hoppy finish. Okay.

Cloudy orange-yellow color with medium foam. The smell is dry and a little yeasty. Yeasty body taste with a little cookie like taste. The aftertaste is clear and again a little yeasty. Basically this is not a bad beer, but I never had a yeasty kölsch before.

Hazy golden-orange color with nice white head. Aroma is fresh, a bit fruity, yeasty. Definitely top-fermented I?d say. Taste is grainy-malty, spicy, a bit fruity. Fresh. Okay, but meh. Kölsch? Might just as well be a boring Saison.
