Local’s Light is a light, yet very tasty lager. The light pilsen malt creates a soft and subtle flavor profile that finishes crisp and clean on your palate.

Local’s Light is a perfect beer for the seasoned craft brew enthusiast and someone new to microbrews. When Short’s first opened, there was not a great deal of craft beer available in the area. Joe Short wanted to create a beer that would appeal to new craft beer drinkers who lived in Michigan, and introduce them to the complex flavors of other beer styles.

Bottle, label read local’s american lager. Poured clear dandelion color with small white head. Aroma - lucky charms cereal with mild floral hop scent. Taste - cereal, marshmallow, yeast and nice floral crispness. Palate - thin body but not watered down. Initial sweetness followed by a crisp finish. Overall - best lager I ever had. I only purchased one and wish I had more. Perfect anytime kind of beer. Easy to drink and abv is low!

Bottle. Clear pale yellow with short-lived white head. Aroma is bread with slight floral notes. Thin body with light carbonation (like flat soda). Not much going on with taste. Sweet, bready flavor with hints of fruit. Okay for a light beer. However, I wouldn’t have bought it had I known it was a light beer, but unfortunately, Shorts has chosen to leave that tidbit off their packaging.

Aroma is bready, sweet, has a Belgian yeast quality about it. Appearance is yellow. That’s about the best way to describe it. Taste is a mess. Super light but the breadiness and weird Belgian yeast taste come through with a vengeance. Mouthfeel is flat. Nothing to it really. Overall, I wasn’t expecting much and boy did it deliver on that.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Clear pale brew with fizzy head that immediately passes. Aroma of some bready malt and floral hops. Taste is mild sweet bread at that start with a mild fruity / floral finish. This is better than the average light beer - but the fruity / floral character does not give it much punch. I probably would not have bought it if the work "light" was in the title, it was labeled simply Local Lager.

Supremely cloudy medium yellow with no head to mention. Scent is lemon and faint wheat, freshly waxed furniture, indistinct fruitiness and wildflowers, corniness beneath that is pleasant. Subtle carbonation for the style, crisp finish, oily mouthfeel. Light, syrupy, but nice pilsner taste; grass, lemon, pilsener malts, subtle corn, very sweet and syrupy. Like a much better high life or corona.

Bottle at home. Pours a very, very pale yellow with a very thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is slight biscuit and some floral. Flavor follows with a nice floral finish. Not bad for what it is supposed to be, but still yuck. My bottle had the "Shorts Local" label and not the Shorts Local Light.

12fl oz bottle. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a thin white head that quickly disappeared. Aromas of yeast, light lemon oil, bready notes, and some faint sweet corn. Taste wise, there is a very strong wine cooler undertone and corn syrup up front that leads into watery malt notes, and a finish heavy with cheap white wine notes. I don’t hate it, but it tastes a little too much like a "malt beverage" and not beer.

For what it is, this is quite a good American lager... While not a style that I’m usually fond of, this beer has some crisp fruity yeast esters and a clean, slightly sweet malt profile. The finish has some very slight citrus / pine hop flavor.

Bottle pour. Cloudy wheat yellow. Quickly dissipating nose. Cereal nose. A little marshmallow sweetness. Mild grassy hops. Taste is crisp and just a bit sweet. Lemon hops in the background. Drinks easy. What a light lager should be.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear yellow pour with white head, aroma has grass, grain, biscuit, bread, hints of slight vanilla, honey in there and a touch floral. Taste is a mix of grass, biscuit, bread, hints of vanilla, honey, finishing sweet, slightly dry. Not bad. Bottle reads short’s local’s american lager.
