Love Knife is a brownish red Belgian ale that explodes with aromas of strawberry, banana, and nectarine. Malt sweetness is quite low, allowing for the fruit flavors to be apparent throughout the beer.

One day while looking over popular Belgian beer styles, Tony noted that there were not a lot of Belgian Amber Ales. Therefore, he decided to create a recipe with a malt bill that loosely resembled a typical Amber Ale found in the states. By adding Belgian yeast and American hop varieties, Tony created a uniquely new and different hybridized style.

Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Aroma is banana, other fruits, resin, citrus hops, and peppery notes. Flavor is more on the sweet side, banana, strawberry, fruit, and light peppery notes. I rather like this. It’s better than I imagined a Belgian-style amber would be.

Copper color with modest head and less cloudy than most Belgium brews. A good IPA...modified with the Belgium yeast.

A rust color on the pour. Fruity and Belgian nose. A white pepper feel and tongue on the taste upfront. Banana flavors that last until the aftertaste. A hop note in the end. Unique.

Bottle. Aroma is bananas, doughy yeast, and generic fruity esters. Tastes very fruity, kinda like fruity pebbles. Lots of Belgian yeast and light banana. Dry finish. Decent.

Very cloudy brownish pink pour and a small mist of offwhite head on top. Very light on scent, smells of melon overall, belgian yeast and some hops. Soft carbonation, watery mouthfeel, clean finish. Light, well blended taste. Malty caramel mixed perfectly with belgian yeasts, light but complex. Quick summary: american brown ale with belgian yeast. Nice easy drinking.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Cloudy medium orange-brown body, thin cream head. Spicy nose, estery with notes of nectarines and berries. Estery, fruity body, quite complex, with prominent nectarine, banana, and strawberries, complemented with clove, hints of chocolate, and tangy brown sugar. There’s a lot going on here, and it’s mostly good.
