MMMKay is an India Pale Lager, originally brewed from the second runnings of Aww Jeah. Now, built of its own accord, the nose is a dynamic explosion of hop aromas! The initial fragrances are of bold citrus fruit: guava, orange, and lemon. As the head settles, the aromas shift to fresh evergreen accents. Indicated by the light body and pale yellow appearance, malt was an afterthought, and the focus here would be hops. An array of enjoyable American hop flavors shock the palate ranging from slightly fruity to intense earthy pine. A bold bitterness dominates the finish enhanced by the clean unobtrusive nature of its lager origin.

Mmmkay pours a clear light yellow with a nice ivory head that lasts a good long while. The aroma is heavy on the citrus with orange, mango and lemon standing out. The flavor is orange and lemon. Overall this a pretty nice brew. This is a nice combination of an IPA and a lager.

Pour on tap at One Eyed Bettys, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of pine, grass, lemongrass, hints of earth, spice, some hints of orange as well with hardly any malt to speak of. Taste is a mix of grass, biscuit, bread, yeast, hints of nice doughy and yeasty notes into some pine, grass, touch of lemon, finishing bitter, dry. Nice.

No need for this brew! Aroma and taste were superior to Bud....but inferior to most ales or Pilsners. Little aroma, thin body, bitterness surpassed by every session IPA!

12oz Bottle. Thanks Sean! Strong tropical fruit nose in the best way, somewhat Mosaic and Citra like, but nicely executed and balanced, staying away from styrofoam and plastic. Unfortunately, I feel like the flavors just degenerates into metallic, grassy bitterness with the classic Short’s celery and dill seed bittering profile. There’s slight bit of nuttiness to the malt body, but on the whole, the lager character is totally gone. Wonderful aroma.

In short: A pale golden lager with generous IPA fruity-piney hopping. Bright and fresh character, excellent beer.
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed fresh soon after receiving it from sarro, thanks a lot Kyle.
The look: Clear shinning pale golden body topped by a persistent small white head.
In long: The strong hoppy nose is fresh citrus and exotic fruits along with cat urine notes that I usually associate with Citra. A very bright and inviting aroma, it smells refreshing. In mouth the beer has a slender body, a silky texture, very soft bubbles, a very soft mouthfeel. Taste is has pleasant but low-profile pale malts, fresh bakery white bread and fresh crackers, low sweetness. The generous hopping is more assertive than expected. There is plenty of refreshing citrusy and exotic fruits but the finish is very dry and the bitterness is quite strong. The refreshing fruity flavors are washed away and replaced by an after-taste of dry pine-tree. Aroma hinted on a soft refreshing fruity IPL but it turned out to be a tasty bitter IPL. I liked it a lot anyway. One of the best bottled IPL I’ve had right behind Jack Abby Hoponius. One of the rare shorts beer I really loved. I usually don’t like Shorts Brewery so to me this was as unexpected as Stevie Wonder performing a cover of Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses At Night”.

Aroma is great, lots of sweet grapefruit, super malty, I believe it will be a treat. Appearance is what you’d expect of a pale lager, we’ll call it darker yellow/light amber, nice white head. Taste is pretty bitter, lots of hops coming through, piny, not so fruity, but then comes a weird lightness that I assume is lager-esque. It’s unlike anything I’ve tried, and probably a perfect blend of the two. Mouthfeel is a touch thin, but not as carbonated as expected, and the bitterness from the hops is really hanging around. Overall...it had promise in the aroma, but fell flat on the taste in that realm. However, it’s not a knock necessarily, it’s just not what I expected.

Bottle:   Pale golden, a bit bright, faint haze, small sudsy white head, little lacing.   Somewhat of a dusty and earthy hop nose.   Bit of a resiny and pithy start.   Doesn’t really come across as a Lager at all, but pretty much a Pale Ale.   Strong pith lingers after each sip.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Does seem a bit smooth, smoother than most Pale Ales at least, so there is that.   Resin and pithy notes linger.   Just seems like a smooth bodied yet somewhat abrasive but not overly hopped Pale Ale.   Eh... thanks Kevin!

12oz bottle poured into oxbow snifter. Pale orange with a small white head that is gone before you put the bottle down. Smell is juicy hops, slight cracker, and grain. Taste is more along the lines of an APA rather than a lager. Juicy fruity hops, solid grainy malt backbone, and just the right amount of bitterness. Short’s rules! mmmkay?
