A gentle mixture of elegance and redolence for any occasion.
Northern Michigan spiced wheat ale. A 50% mixture of premium two-row malted barley and malted white wheat makes golden wheat ale balanced with Ahtanum and Cascade hop varieties. This ale is spiced with fresh grated lemon and orange rind, coriander, and black peppercorns. It’s truly a fermented wonder of the Short’s Brew formula family.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2016 Rerate. Bottle shared with koleminer20, out of Dumpster Day box #1. Aroma is light, light orange, mostly wheat, some coriander and peppercorn. Appearance is dark golden, white head. Taste is...not there. Might be light peppercorn, mostly wheat and nothing. Nothing happening here. Mouthfeel is medium body and almost no carbonation, slight spice at the the end. Overall, yikes. Swing and a miss.

(backlog) At delirium. Orange cloudy pour with tan head. Light orange, coriander, and citrus aromas. Sweet fruit, light spice and hop flavors.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2014 Bottle: Deep golden color, nearly amber with a wispy, white head that’s gone in moments. Aroma is a random hodge-podge of kitchen rack spices. Peppercorn is definitely discernible... Coriander is there, but not as heavily. Also get a nutmeg or spicy cinnamon-like note in there? Other random clashing of leafy & ashy spiciness, along with an intense, fruity spike that smells of bittersweet oranges & mild Lemon Pledge. Orange & lemon definitely more forward on the palate. Still getting a moderate solvent note, unfortunately, like lemon cleanser. Mid-palate is another clusterfuck of spices & flavors; coriander, clove, ash, herbal hops, bitter citrus rind, cinnamon, malty & toasted bread. Peppercorns come in hard & grow too powerful towards the end. The finish is nothing but peppercorn, like sucking on a pepper mill.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow gold with rapidly settling, small white head. No lace. Aroma is lemon and lime, strong citrus (reminiscent of cleaning product), some coriander, spice and sweet wheat in the background. Flavor is strong lemon, lime, orange, mildly sweet, fading into a mild and sweet wheat and coriander finish, hint of peppercorn/black pepper. Could use more wheat for flavor and body. Soft carbonation, medium-light body, and lightly chewy texture.

From a bottle. Lives up to its name, definitely spicy. Quite light, and refreshing. Not my thing, but interesting.

12oz bottle in trade. Pours a pale orange with little to no head. Smell is lime, coriander, overripe melon, and wheat/grain. Taste is a bit funky (not in a good way) again with the honeydew melon, lime, and malt. Thin on the palette.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/13/2013. Pours very hazy bright golden amber color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of lemon zest, orange zest, pear, peppercorn, coriander, wheat, bread, herbal, floral, and earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and spice notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange zest, pear, wheat, peppercorn, coriander, bread, floral, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of citrus zest, wheat, peppercorn, coriander, bread, and herbal earthiness on the finish; with some peppercorn heat building up as well. Nice and pleasant balance of malt and spice flavors; with solid robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a solid spiced wheat ale. Solid robustness and good balance of malt and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. An enjoyable offering.

Shared bottle, poured to shaker. Zesty peppery taste with citrusy hints. A bit watery finish.
