2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass (drank Mar ’12) to a hazy gold colour with a thinnish white head.
Smells of orange peel/zest, other hints of citrus and some peppercorn, corriander and a pinch of other ’unidentifiable’ herbs!
Flavour wise a sour orange and to a lesser extent lemon dominates the mouth allied to background flavours of wheat and moderate spice. Also get the peppercorns again particularly in the finish however there was also a background ’sweetness’ to the beer which I don’t think overly helped the balance of flavours!
Mouthfeel was light to medium in body, perhaps a little too thin and watery?
Overall not impressed. Not a particularly well balanced beer and a little thin.
Slightly ’spicie’ but not so ’nicie’ - they must have set themselves up for a review along those lines and I’m sure I’m not the first to quote that and I won’t be the last!
Would not seek out this beer in any way shape or form in the future. I would imagine the only likelihood of me drinking again would be on a hot summers day as I guess it has ’refreshment’ potential in such conditions, but someone would have to gift me a bottle!

Bottle thanks to mikem409: Poured a yellowish white with a carbonated white fluffy head. Aroma is light citrus orange and lemon, zesty spice, and wheat. Taste pops with spice specially feel that peppercorn tingle right from the start, loads of citrus fruit along with a soft cereal make very drinkable and enjoyable.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. You get a ton of spices in the aroma. The pepper is almost too overpowering. The taste is a little flat and the pepper stays through the taste. Not exactly what I look for in a beer.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a clear bright yellow color with no head. Aromas of lemon, orange, black pepper, and wheat. Taste is slightly sweet with lots of lemon and black pepper taste. Don’t detect any hops. Not really my kind of beer. Very thin body and the taste is overpowered by lemons and peppercorns.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very little head white head poured atop a clear golden thin beer. Smells of orange soda syrup, lemon, and pepper. I wish this carried through a bit more on the taste. Very light tasting easy drinking lightly orange and pepper taste. Ends with the pepper but less refined than in the aroma. If they were going for a light less filling fun beer than they did very well. This is a beer you could easily drink a few.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle, shared by Jay. Hazy yellow orange color. Minimal white head, little lace. Jay is convinced that their is some bacteria used here, it’s definitely got an acidic tart flavor, a funky yeast, maybe. Orange soda aroma, really zesty with all the lemon and citrus peel. Peppercorns are noticable in there too, it’s a really nice medley. Jay was really surprised by how sour it was, but I’m actually enjoying that direction. It’s tart, and refreshing. Lighter, smooth carbonation, dry finish, with a slight acidic bite in the end that I don’t really mind at all personally. This is the kind of quirkiness I like to see from Shorts.

Bottle. Poured a hazy, orange yellow, with little-to-no head. Smell is wheat, biscuit, baby poop, spice, and lemon. Taste is sour bread, grass, wheat, lemon, and infected bread. Light body and high carbonation. This beer is very boring and simple. Bleh.
