COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark black lager with bold roasted malt and faint citrus hop aromas. Robust flavors of burnt cocoa and roasted espresso barely give way to some mild orange and grapefruit hoppiness. The light body and crisp nature of this unique lager allows for a showcased bitterness that seems delayed at first, but builds to a powerful finish.

Fles van het fust. Zwart met een redelijke creme kraag. Geur is typisch, vogelvoer en een asbak smaak is hennep en een asbak. Iets te geroosterd voor mijn persoonlijke smaak.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2016 I drank this beer yesterday in Lausanne. It is, in my point of view, the perfect dark beer. There is a perfect mix between the hop, the malt and this side bitter and roasted, feeling coffee. The foam is strong and staying a long time, perfect dark color and there is a nice sensation at the nose and the mouth.

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2015 Aroma has some lightly roasted malts. The flavour is strong and bitter with lots of burnt malt and coffee. A light hoppy finish helps keeps it fresh enough to be a genuine session beer.

Bottle shared by Erwin Van Moll @ Brewpub Van Moll during the bottling of Benzai’s 10k beer. Dark brown to black color with a nice deep dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, hops and roast blended together nicely. Taste malts, roasted malts, bitter, hop lightly, hop bitter, dark malts, ash. Very nice mix of two different styles. Very well done imo!

12 oz. bottle from shrubber85 - thanks again, Roger! Pours a cloudy brown with a small beige head that leaves some bubbles within the film and ring. Notes of toasted malts, dry grains, dead leaves, earth, burnt sugar, and a little hockey puck-like rubber. But just barely. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, roasty mouthfeel. Good schwarzbier that I wish I’d been able to open sooner.
