COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark black lager with bold roasted malt and faint citrus hop aromas. Robust flavors of burnt cocoa and roasted espresso barely give way to some mild orange and grapefruit hoppiness. The light body and crisp nature of this unique lager allows for a showcased bitterness that seems delayed at first, but builds to a powerful finish.

Sampled at GABF 2013. Pours a mahogany amber with some creamy, beige head. Nose is nutty, malty, coffee, toast, Kahlua. Flavor is malt, toast, cracker, licorice, coffee. Dry finish. Maybe my favorite Shorts beer.

On tap at GABF 2013, roasted malt and some grain, decent hop taste, not bad.

Draft at the brewpub, Bellaire. Deep ruddy brown body, medium coffee & cream head. Piny nose. Lots of licorice bitterness in the body, toasty, piny, and thin.

On tap at the brewpub...Midnight black, but has an exceedingly light palate with 4% ABV. Very sessionable lager that is very light on its feet, but also very complex in its flavor profile with roasted coffee over citrus hops. Yum.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown, almost black pour with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly. Malt and light hops in the aroma. Taste of cocoa and dark roasted coffee. Excellent.
