(From backlog) Bottle. Odd fake chemically smell. Peanuts followed by artificial fruit and really weird aftertaste.

20th February 2011 Opaque and very dark brown beer, short lived head. Nose of tart black fruits and earthy peanut. Crisp palate, dry. Pretty tart fruits to start - we are almost in sour beer territory! Generic black fruits with a touch of red berries. In the backdrop is earthy peanut with a whisper of smoke. Finishes crisp and dry. I love Joe Short’s creativity and this another great idea but I’d like the tartness toned down a lot. Still enjoyed it though.

Bottle. Hazy brown body. Small beige head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of peanuts, bread crust, damp basement, roasted malt. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly tart. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly sweet and moderately tart. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Light taste of peanuts, citrus, sour apple. Slight oxidation. Interesting beer, but not all that enjoyable.

On tap from notes at EBF 08. Sample pour was certainly enough on this one, dark hue, aromas were very strange, some nutty qualities and over ripe fruit. Goes down smooth, but the palate is all messed up, too much cloying up front with little to no finish. I guess this was a noble try, but PB and J should go into a beer.

Tasted in May, 2011 from a 12oz bottle purchased at Siciliano’s. Pours opaque dark brown with a very thick, fizzy tan head that recedes rather quickly to nothing more than a thin collar of lace. The nose is darkly roasted malt along with dark chocolate and peanut butter, blended with a bit of tart fruit. The flavor is exactly the same with the tart fruit much more intense, and the dark chocolate malt and peanut butter underlying. The body is medium with very lively, almost fizzy carbonation, and a long peanut butter and tart fruit finish.

12 ounce bottle shared by GT2 at the 5/7/11 DC Ratebeer gathering. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of tart berries, pepper, nutty notes and caramel. The taste is very tart with cherries, berries, grapes and an earthy peppery note. Medium bodied.

Bottle from a trade with StoutFest. Pours brownish color with tan head. Grape jam aroma. Flavor is sweet grape/strawberry jam with lots of sourness. Don’t know if it’s intentional or infected. I don’t really taste any peanut. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Not sure what I think of this othewr than it’s very strange. Thanks Ramiro.

12 oz bottle. Wow. That was pretty bad. Very little sweetness, sour taste, and I do not get anything that resembles peanut butter. Drain pour.

Thanks to Armin for bringing the bottle! Poured deeper brown with a short, dense tan head. The aroma picked up meaty peanut bitter, with some sour peanut husks and warmer chocolate backing.. really quite sour when it came down to it.. odd stuff. The flavor found some peanut butter sweetness at the core, but a whole lot more sourness around.. mostly metallic.. finished sour and even more metallic. Medium-bodied and very tart/sour on the palate.. more sour than I expected, but a decent brew.

12oz bottle-thanks to jtclockwork for sharing–pours a light brown head and brown color. Aroma is musty/basement, turns to vegetal. Power of suggestion-boiled peanut and some grape but with an off note. Taste is peanut, medium malt, fruit-vinegar/tart. +1 for experimenting/trying on overall.
