Bottle. Yet another Shorts beer that pours like cola... obnoxious fizzy head that dies back to nothing fairly quickly over a slightly syrupy looking dark brown body. Aromas are interesting and match the label pretty well. I can smell the peanuts much more clearly than in the bottle of Uber Goober and the jammy fruits come through nicely as well. There is a bit of a chocolate presence, too. That said, I’m not sure about this as a beer... some sips I like it a fair bit and the next it seems like a trainwreck of poor thought. Carbonation is overdone and distracts from the beer quite a bit. The mix of fruit and peanut butter and chocolaty malts is interesting, but not something I’d like to have every night... Once is probably enough, although I’d like to try it with a more normal carbonation level.

Bottle. Poured black with a slight touch of purple to it with no head. Aroma really smells just like peanut butter and jelly with a berry jam. There is even a bit of a grain note. Flavor is not as accurate but there is a bit of peanut butter at the beginning, but a tart berry taste takes over. There is a bit of a clash in the flavor Still, quite amazing they could put this flavor into a beer.

Deep Brown/black body, thin tan head, aroma is pretty much spot on Peanut Butter and Jelly, really smells like I’m about to gobble down a PB&J (maybe i need a glass of milk with this beer) flavor misses the mark for the samich, tart acidic berry flavor that pushes through to the finish, a hint at peanut but not much there in terms of the peanut butter can’t really taste any, mild roast, chalky black malt, an interesting ale, definitely drinkable and worth a try, I applaud the effort, must be a homebrewer in charge over at Shorts

I liked this one, poured it in a tulip glass it poured with no head ebony color but the flavor was sweet with the nice roasted after taste.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear ruby color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex roasted malt and peanut aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy fruit and peanut sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good change of pace brew.

Deep opaque brown body, thin buff head. Berries dominate the nose. The body begins with bitter, prickly dry roasted malts and peanuts, which are quickly subdued by sweet berry notes that deliver the most lasting impression of this beer. For some reason the body feels thin, despite the heft of the two beers in the blend. So-so.

Peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat! Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat! In all seriousness, this is one tasty brew. Great comfort beer for the cold months ahead. I am so glad to live in Michigan, beer capital of the US. Ooh la la.

Funky and strange. Short’s is eclectic, and I admire them for it. Fruit smell and taste, on top of usual stout flavors, were dominate. Peanuts were only in background.

Bottle from Champanes, label reads ‘A Blend of Peanut Butter Stout and Fruit Rye Ale’, no % alcohol or BBD noted, has a black pour but I see a very dark ruby (with a bit of haze?) when the glass is held up to a light, very little head on this beer of tan and dark tan bubbles and the head quickly diminishes to a ring and partial cover, there are some bubbles floating up in the center of the glass but not much, also, at the right angle, I can see oil(?) pockets on top of the beer, pretty much the same if you looked at the top of your cup of coffee, the are the little pockets of oils floating on the surface, I don’t think I have ever seen these pockets of oil (or whatever they are) floating on the surface of a beer, aromas of chocolate and peanuts with dark fruit, Strawberry and Blueberry, flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, dark chocolate and Blueberry, nice and interesting combination of aromas and flavors.

Pailhead (3859) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - DEC 18, 2009
Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, peanuts, alcohol, strawberries, and blueberries. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights along the edges of the glass and a small beige head that diminishes quickly. The flavor starts with chocolate and light peanuts. The finish has moderate strawberry. It begins all Uber Goober and finishes all Soft Parade. Medium bodied with mild carbonation.
