Pub Brew. Purple Rain is a light lager made in the summer time. Tons of real blueberries give this beer a radiant purple glow, along with poignant sweet and tart flavors. A delightful effervescence adds to the cool, quenching nature of this beer, making it perfect for the warmer months.

Draft sample at HopCat. Poured blueish amber with average rocky white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Aroma was moderate blueberry with a lager tone. Flavor was moderate blueberry with a good balanced malt finish of moderate duration. Medium body with pleasing texture and soft carbonation. Above average complex fruit beer.

Draft sample at brewery 11/23/10-Pours a clear plum color with a small white ring for a head. Aroma of blueberries with a taste of the same along with some tartness. A nice tasty light bodied brew that goes down easy. Nice job.

Had on draft at the brewpub. This beer has an overwhelming fruit profile. I tried to have an open mind, but i really did not enjoy this beer. One and done.

On tap at the Ashley’s Shorts event. Poured a hazy gold with a purple hue and a minimal head that dissipated quickly and completely. Aroma was full of sweet blueberries that had a slight tart note and a sweet grain backing. Flavor was similar with sweet blueberries that became slightly tart and a grain backing to balance the beer.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a transparent, ruddy purple color with a thin, pinkish off-white head. Aroma of freshly squeezed blueberries interplays interestingly with corn. Not DMS, but a definite flaked maize, corn-like American lager quality that the blueberry character, while pleasant, isn’t strong enough to overcome. Light bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Tastes like a clean, American pale lager with a restrained dose of blueberry. A little bit boring, although I’m intrigued by how the addition of blueberries to this style doesn’t really affect the massive quaffability.
