Pub Brew. Schnozzleberry Griffin is a magenta colored American Wheat Ale, made with Oolong tea and blackberries. The rich, berry filled aroma overshadows the soft, flour-like contributions of the malted wheat. The crisp, tart, fruity flavors create a pleasantly sour and slightly tangy mouthfeel that leads into a lightly acidic, and semi-dry finish.

GABF 2014. Red beer; dry aroma with some acidic aroma. Mildly sour berry flavor and a bitter finish. It seems under attenuated.

Draft sampled at GABF 2014 with Andrew, Mel and company. Pours a deep body with thick lacing. Aroma is tea-centric with notes of berries and fruits in the back. Mouthfeel is super light and a touch dry with notes of dry berries, tea and a dry floral character. Lots of tea in this one.

GABF 2014. Dark red color with a large head. Aroma of dried fruits and fairly hoppy. Kind of a puckering berry flavor. Lightly tart with some sweet malt backing.

Tap at Short’s...pours a reddish purple with no head. Very dry with oolong tannin mixing nicely with the tart fruitiness. Well done.

Draft at the brewpub, Bellaire. Hazy red-brown body, thin off-white head. Grassy with light bitterness and blackberry, reminiscent of Founders Rubaeus but sharper and less sweet, and with the interesting kick of tannic tea cake elements that cleans up the fruit nicely.

On tap at Short;s Summer Kickoff Party. Poured a pinkish purple-red. Aroma and taste of berries. Sweet, but not over sweet. A nice fruit beer.

On tap at Brickhouse in Madison, WI as part of The Beer Spot GT pre-party. Got a nice full pour. Not much carbonation in it, poured an almost still, mostly clear purple-red. Smelled and tasted of blackberries/blueberries/raspberries. Very sweet but still drinkable - not sickly sweet. I would definitely like to have this one again; I’m not much for fruit beers but this was one of the best I’ve had.

Small pour on tap at Brickhouse BBQ (Madison, WI). Pours a richer reddish ruby hue, a good small lacing of tannish head, dies to a film, laces small. A rich glow, firm haze, glowing beauty with lively carbonation. Aromas are gentle berry, earthy tea, touches of raspberry and mellow bready malts. Earthy tea elements, dryness, wood. Initial is mellow berry, cherry and raspberry up front, a touch fizzy. Middle is more mellow, a touch sweet, mellow dryness, moving into a firm earthy and touch woody finish. Black tea elements into the middle and backend, a bit of tart berry up front. Some good play, lighter body but firm berry/tea play overall. More earthy and woody finish brings it home for me, black tea, some grass, fuzzy carbonation. Very interesting, flavorful, and surprisingly well balanced beer. Good flavors. I’m a fan
