Pours a hazy, translucent, really reddish mahogany - quite appealing to the eye. Malty aroma has a strong overtone of berries, especially raspberries. Raspberry dominates the flavor, which includes hints of blueberry and strawberry as well as malt and hoppy bitterness. Jazzy, tingly, fizzy texture leaves a lively finish.

Draft. Blueberry/raspberry and light caramel malt aroma. Reddish amber with moderate head. Sweet berry and caramel malt flavor. Great balance. Alcohol very well hidden. Spectacular.

A - The beer pours a hazy red color with a touch of pink mixed in and a big finger of frothy pink colored head. The head fades down extremely slowly leaving behind lots of thick lace. S - The aroma is full of sweet berries with lots of strawberries especially. It is really nice and sweet and tart. T - The flavor starts off with some mellow berry sweetness with a bit more pungent tartness. The sweetness starts to build right away with a touch of grain in the background. Through the middle the sweetness gets quite a bit stronger with lots of strawberry flavor coming through. The finish is a mix of berry flavor with lots of strong tartness and sweetness. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a tart and dry finish. D - Very drinkable. I rally like just how sweet and tart it is and how strong the fruit flavor is. It also finishes really strong with some great flavor.

Beautiful bright and clear beer, with a red color similar to cranberry juice, but a little lighter. No head at all. You know how a port wine clings to the side of a wine glass (is that called legs or something)? Well this beer does the same. Pretty cool. Smells fruity and not beery. I detect mainly raspberry and cherry. Tastes like it smells, wonderfully full of sweet fruit (again raspberry and cherry) and some honey flavor. Not sure if the honey flavor is from actual honey, or if it is from the malt. No detectable hops, but even with all that sweetness going on, it was not cloying at all. Tart raspberry in the aftertaste. Oddly, no detectable alcohol flavor. This is one sneaky beer, weighing in at 11% it is also known as Ol’ Leg Spreader. Nuff said about that!

<i<from erzbierschof.ch - cloudy dark reddish beer with a solid beige foam left; a strong and charming sourish fruity aroma where blueberries dominate leaving their friends straw- and blackberries in the background; moderate carbonation and a good malt backbone; creamy palate and pretty sour; slightly dry and long sour/acidic fruity finish (blueberries on top again) - very nicely made and very drinkable

I am on my husband’s account and a lady and this is a ladies beer. Worth checking out. The color is nice and the aroma is wonderful. I myself prefer the porters or stouts but this is delicious as well.

Draft at the brewpub: This is hands down the most interesting fruit beer I have tasted. Short’s has taken a handful of fruits that are notoriously hard to extract flavor from and made them shine in harmony here. Pours a strawberry juice red with a spritzy, champagne-like head. The nose is subtle but discernable with soft notes of fresh fruit. The body dances on the tongue as spritzy carbonation cleans the palate. Fresh notes of strawberry and blueberry are immediately apparent to me. The way they interplay is fantastic. A bit of warmth helps reveal a deeper complexity to the fruit and raspberry and blackberries start to come to mind. The body is light enough to make this quite quaffable. The rye is light but present, giving this the base it needs to achieve that next level of complexity. Finishes clean on the palate. This is a great palate cleanser and would work great with a fruit and cheese appetizer of to cut the fat in a strawberry cheesecake for dessert. Very nice.

1.5 oz sample from the brewery. I am very surprised with how low the percentile of this beer was, second favorite that I tried there. Clear orange, amber color with white head. Fruity strawberry, delicious. Orange, strawberry, sweet malt and a little bitterness. Nice full body.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Color is pinkish-red with huge frothy head that does not dissipate, but stays around. Aroma is of fruit, strawberry and raspberry mainly, although you’d think there is cherry though it’s not listed. Taste is of tart fruit, mildly sweet. Very crisp and carbonated mouthfeel. Very good fruit beer!

12oz thanks to dalekliz for getting this bottle when she was back in Michigan. Pours pink with a big frothy white head. Nose is sweet and quite fruity. Taste is sweet and tart and refreshing.
