Liquified laughter from fruit filled disaster.
Simply put: Fruit Rye Ale. A bountiful blend of toasted rye flakes and two row malted barley make wort fermented with 200 pounds of pureed strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries resulting in a sweet fruity delicacy. Intoxicatingly refreshing and brewed special for those ladies who enjoy their wine.

Dude. How am I expected to like a beer that plainly says in the RB descript "brewed special for those LADIES who enjoy their wine."? Iíll give it a shot. How off-putting. [A] Aroma is non-offensive berry. Banana. Strawberry. Pleasant fruit. Without being too rotten, artificial, weak, or up front. [A] Clear amber. Reddish, with pink-white head. [F] Its a fruit beer. Did you expect roast, maybe? No. Fruity, slightly tart flavors. Actually, banana, or yeastiness follows through. Rye, not so much. And the fruit variety is actually, yes, that of an Arbor Mist or MD 20/20 wine. So-so. [P] Bottled, on a hot day, I could probably do this much better than any other fruit beer, period. 9% could catch up quick, as it is not at all noticeable. Drinkable. But, you have to look past the fruit, I guess. Light. Highly carbonated, crisp mouth. [O] Decent fruit beer. One of the few impressions from Shortís brewery Iíve had. And itís no Berry Weiss. So I guess I could have hated this more. But I donít think Shortís needs to worry about its feminine appeal.

Thanks DrSilverworm! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this. I tend to like the style, but the tartness was too much. Worth a shot.

Bottle from Drakeís Party Center. Pours brown with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Wasnít expecting the rye note on the nose. It kind overshadows the fruit on the tongue but I do get some fruity goodness on the finish. I donít mind fruit beers that taste like fruit and this could have been bolder.

One of the best fruit beers Iíve had. Plenty of fruit taste but still tastes like a beer. Much better than I expected.

Bottle to pint glass Blueberry, I guess, but maybe only because it says that on the label. Thereís a fruitiness, for sure, but blueberry isnít quite it. I do get some raspberry and strawberry and I also get hay, pumpkin, and some sourness. Nice clear amber with a wafer thin and ringed white head. A kind of amorphous fruitiness, but I donít pick out any specific berries.

Bottle - Raspberries and plae malts. Clear gold copper with a decent beige head. Light berry, slight tart bite and a pale malt finish. Not too sweet, but also not very interesting.

Pours a pinkish orange with a thin white head. Aroma of berries, loads of berries and sweet caramel malt. Taste is sweet, berries, caramel malt and not much else. Not great

pours cloudy orange with a small off-white-pinkish head, some retention and shy lacing. fruit salad juice - rasp and strawberries standing out, very fruity, rosť wine - zinfandel-ish, light astringency - like when chewing raspberry leaves, if at all normal, some fruit jam, slightly cheezy, light citric notes, but also few lactic notes. moderately low carbonation - slightly lacking, light to medium body - oily and thick, slightly astringent and spicy-herbal-grassy finish. quite close to fruit wine or rosť zinfandel - conclusive experiment - boozier than wine though.

From a bottle. Just effusively a Michigan beer in so many ways. Bold and strong flavor, but that flavor is sweet and juicy. No alcohol burn or aftertaste despite high ABV. A very sneaky and well crafted ale that happens to have fruit in it.

Tap. Semi opaque amber red. Small head, decent lacing. Berry centric perfume with a healthy amount of raspberries and strawberries. Like sniffing jam. Light wheat behind. Taste continues the berry parade. Jam and wheat. Wheat and jam. You get the idea. Toes the line between fruity and cloying.
