COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strawberry Short’s Cake is a golden ale. The addition of strawberries and milk sugar transform this beer into a rose colored nectar that has hints of cream and is pleasingly sweet. Biscuit flavors and aromas arise from the great amounts of Victory malt used in the brewing process.

Bottle at bottle share at the Sybarite Pig in Boca. Small snifter. Pours an amber-red copper with a thin, pinkish white head. Well it smells like strawberry short cake. Strawberries, whipped cream, and vanilla. And it tasted like it. Not much explanation needed. They hit the nail on the head with the flavors. I found it too sweet but I guess a strawberry shortcake is sweet. Just not my type of desert.

Tap. Sort of a golden-amber. Bit of head. Smells vaguely of strawberries. Solid mouthfeel. Tastes of real strawberries, bit of breadiness. Definitely tastes like its name, and without being too sweet!

Aroma is vanilla and stawberrys... taste is similar, very sweet with a little funk on the end. A pretty good fruit beer, would like to try a fresh brew.

Bottle (12 oz). Extra from Mark, thanks! Slightly hazy copper/reddish brown with a small beige head and no lacing. Aroma of strawberries, vanilla, light rotten notes and sugar. Taste is moderately sweet with strawberries, vanilla and sugar. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Kind of creamy mouthfeel. The beer fits the description, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good beer. Too sugary and the strawberries, while being really present, aren’t bright like some other strawberry beers (those who come to my mind are Upland Strawberry Lambic or Hanssens Oudbeitje, though it’s not the same style of beer).

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours ruby/amber with a small, off-white head. Aroma of strawberries, light lactose, some light spices, pale and light caramel malts, and hints of hops. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average texture. A decent and interesting fruit beer.

Bottle, thanks Mike! Pours a light copper color with a small head that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma is a slightly tart strawberry milk. Taste is weird. Strawberries obviously but not fresh juicy strawberries, more like overripe, tart, dry ones. Not as sweet as I expected either. Kinda disappointed with this one.

12oz bottle, shared by beerpig317. Mildly hazy orange color. Thin off-white head. Couple loose bits of lace. Very nice strawberry and creme aroma. Medium-plus body. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Yogurty, light lactose flavors. More dry finish. Moderate sweet, light tart taste. Finishes dry, which is nice. Flavor is spot-on for a strawberry shortcake beer, pretty impressive, really. Awesome stuff.

Spot on beer for Shorts. Fresh strawberry sauce flavor. Even whipped cream and sugar flavors. Literally every aspect of a strawberry short cake is in there.

$2 bottle purchased at Fairway Sav-Mor... I’m glad I managed a couple bottles of this, as I wanted it last year but was too late. Bottled 15 days ago on July 26th. Appearance: A red-amber color with a slight haze. A super fizzy two-finger head bubbles away quickly. Very little lacing’s left on the glass. Smell: Initially I was getting a mostly roasted malt quality that kind of confused me a bit, with strawberries in the back. After a few more whiffs, the strawberries definitely took over, though the malt is still there. Definitely smells like strawberry shortcake. Taste/feel: An excellent sweet, tart strawberry flavor hits the front, and then the "cake" part of the beer comes through in the finish. It’s really not all that complex -- it is essentially what it says it is... a strawberry shortcake beer. Super thirst quenching, which I don’t say for too many beers, and very refreshing. Not overly sweet at all. The aftertaste also has a bit of that cream flavor thanks to the lactose that’s infused in this beer, just adding more to the illusion that you’re having yourself some shortcake. This is just about what I was expecting. My initial smell and taste wasn’t awesome, but it grew on me a little bit. It’s a shame Short’s doesn’t make more of this stuff, because it’s really a unique, tasty beer.

12 oz bottle from a 6 pack purchased in Ann Arbor as it came in off the delivery truck. Served in a snifter. An interesting fruit beer, with a bitter/sweet/tart taste tha leans a bit toward the sweet side, but leaving all 3 components apparent. The strawberry smell and taste more like preserves than fresh berries and, while obvious, are nearly matched by the flavor of light malts. O: A fun and refreshing beer that’s certainly worth trying.
