Pub Brew. Stroker Ace is a bright, carrot-orange colored ale with fruity hop aromas of citrus zest. This brew is light bodied with low malt sweetness, which allows for an array of noticeable lemony flavors that range from citrus fruit to lemongrass. A proper IPA bitterness resonates in the back of the throat providing a slight lingering bite, and an increasing dryness.

Tap: Muddled, burnt stop-light amber color with orange in the center. Fine-bubbled, frothy white head quickly settles to a thin skin. Aroma is very fruity, thanks to the generous amount of hops. Nice clashing of citric & tropical. Grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, lemon, a hint of leafy, herbaceous grass in the finish. Not much malt to speak of. Same goes for the flavor; only just enough malt not to fall apart. Otherwise, it’s a hop diddy. Bitter herbal notes, sweet grapefruit, semisweet orange zest, earthy undertones, toasted crackers, a hint of pineapple, some faint green onion. Quite bitter, likely due to the light malt bill, but not overly abrasive or harsh. Clean finish, dry with a touch of lemon rind. Really enjoyed this when I had it on tap a few years ago; haven’t had one from the bottle yet but I hope it’s as good as I remember.

Bottle: Session ipa. Very light yellow color and mild nose. Mild hop character and rather disappointing; more like a session american pale ale than an ipa. Disappointing offering from Shorts

355ml bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 29-01-2015.
Bottled: 28-08-2014.
In short: light bitter ale.
Pours some hazy pale gold with frothy white head. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Malty, some wet aromas, some oxidated ones. Light body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is citrusy, moderate bitter, dry aftertaste. Nothing remarkable.
