COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our dark American lager beer we brew in the spring time. Since released, this beer has gained an underground following. Black is the beer, but soft and sweet on the palate. Rich flavor stems from roasted and dark caramel grains. Sustenance is a very delightful and easy drinking lager with strong emphasis on the balanced malt profile.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin feel to it as it pours. A thin film of tan head sits on the surface. Aromas are weak... a faint whiff of chocolate and earth is about all I pick up. Flavor is a little more interesting... chocolate and caramel malts play off each other nicely with just a hint of topsoil after a rain or something poetic like that. It has a kind of creaminess to it (mouthfeel and maybe even a little in the flavor) and ends in a coffee/peat-like bitterness.

bottle from stfun. 1/31/11. colored like a typical porter with an ow head. the aroma seems fairly hoppy... with notes behind that of nuts, roast, lactose, lactic acid and some cocoa. the flavor is the same... very toasty and roasty up front but with a metallic cherry skin-like sourness on the end. seems to be the typical shorts beer... infected. this must be killer on tap!

Flaske hos Ole Anders mai-13: fin aroma av røstet malt. Kort skum. Syrlig rugsmak, i tillegg til tobakk og mørke bær. God, men med en viss reservasjon. I litt større mengde en smaking vil den nok gi sustenance.

Thin beer, but black. Caramel and brown sugar. If i was to compare this to Xingu, I’d pick Xingu.

This poured a black as night color with a beige head. Aroma was grassy hops, some lightly toasted malt, and some other things. Flavor was light bodied toasted malts, very light chocolate, and light german grassy hops. Typical Schwartz but nothing special.
