Chocolate Wheat is a Porter brewed with chocolate malt, wheat malt, and well-chosen specialty grains. The combination creates a deep black, full-bodied beer that provides subtle hop flavors and rich malt tones. Chocolate Wheat balances the flavors of roasted caramel, coffee, and chocolate, which ends in a smooth finish.

Pour form a 12oz bottle. Deep dark rich brew with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, burnt grains, and, as advertised, more chocolate. Taste is generally sweet , but offset but the roasted bitter grains. Smooth sweet finish.

Pours a dark dark brown with a nice dark chocolate colored head. The aroma brings a sugary chocolate note like a chocolatey cereal. The taste brings flavors of smooth chocolate with a roasty malt finish. A fizzed carbonation in the back feel. Spot on with the name. A unique brew. A prominent wheat taste mixed with chocolate. Overall a very creative final product. Shorts knows how to mix it up.

Pours a dark brown with a foamy off-white head that dissipates quickly. Has a nice chocolate and malt aroma. Flavor is sweet dark chocolate, roasted malts, and wheat. Has a medium body feel. Everything is balanced brilliantly. Delicious beer.

Draft at Zingerman’s Roadhouse. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Light milk chocolate aroma. Great chocolate flavor with a full mouthfeel from the wheat. Very tasty.

$2 single poured into a shaker pint (sue me.) Appearance: Pitch black, like you’d figure a stout to be, not necessarily a porter. Two finger tan head looks great on top, but fizzles away quickly. Decent lacing. Pretty good looking beer. Smell: First whiff was great when the head was bubbling away -- almost a chocolate milk aroma. After that went away, it’s incredibly light. I pick up a faint metallic note, dark roasted malt, and some chocolate when it’s cold, and then just a dark coffee/mocha sort of aroma when it warms up a tick... the metallic note dissipates. Nice. Taste/feel: About spot on. I was worried that this porter would drink like a stout, but it drinks more like its name would indicate. Rather thin and light with a moderate amount of carbonation. Normally I’d dub this a bad thing, but it’s what I’ve grown to expect in a porter. The flavor is solid and interesting, but not overwhelming, which would make this an excellent session option. Plenty of roasted malt, a very pleasant semi-dark chocolate flavor, and sort of coffee and slightly char finish. A very slight bitter finish that makes me just want more, more, more. Well, we have another winner from Short’s. Light, packing some great chocolate flavor, and I love the slight char/ash finish on it. I could see myself picking this up instead of Edmund Fitzgerald, to be honest with you. I just get a more interesting flavor out of this one with the chocolate and essence of coffee with the ash-like finish. More depth of flavor than that brew, in my opinion.

Sampler pack from meijers Oxford. Nose is sweet malt and pours dark with mild head. Body is really like an oatmeal stout but the sweet cocoa finish changes it a bit. Wheat hints pale in comparison. ---Rated via my mouth
