Chocolate Wheat is a Porter brewed with chocolate malt, wheat malt, and well-chosen specialty grains. The combination creates a deep black, full-bodied beer that provides subtle hop flavors and rich malt tones. Chocolate Wheat balances the flavors of roasted caramel, coffee, and chocolate, which ends in a smooth finish.

Love this beer. Name can be confusing, as it’s a porter, but made with chocolate and wheat malts. Doesn’t have the earthy taste associated with many porters. Dark and very, very smooth. No overpowering flavors. Excellent beer.

So this guy poured a solid motor oil with off white head. The only bad thing about this beer is that it smelled of feet (my friend said "BO"). Luckily, the flavor was rich chocolately goodness. Medium-heavy body and tastey, overall it gets a decent score. The nose thing was odd though so I recommend keeping your honker out of it.

12oz bottle from Kalamazoo megabev. Completely black pour with purple/brown hues. Head was cappuccino colored and disappeared quickly. Strong chocolate scent. Iron-like scent detectable as well. Medium, slightly watery mouth feel and carbonation. Very toasty flavor, very roasted nuts, maybe almonds, and dark chocolate that's bitter. Finish is a lot more roasted malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

November 7, 2012 bottle from Ramiro as an extra. Dark brown pour with some head and lacing. Aroma was roasted malt, dark chocolate, and maybe a touch of hops. Taste starts watery and grainy, moves to the roasted malt and finishes with the dark chocolate. Thin to medium body and fairly smooth.

12oz bottle shared by emacgee - thanks, Ethan! Always good to try something from Shorts, even if that something isn’t so good. Dark pour with a medium head, and a nose of grain and ash. Something ripe and yeasty emerges in the taste, but overall a weirdly disjointed beer, like that disturbed kid in your junior high math class. Maybe he’s got it together now?

12 ounce bottle pours a murky black color, aromas of chocolate, earth, touch of wheat, and coco. Flavors are the same as aroma, mostly coco and chocolate, not much wheat comes through, overall nice beer.

Bottle. Pours opaque black. Medium tan head. Chocolate aroma. Flavor is chocolate with some bitter roast. I saw that some of the other raters noted that the palate is a bit thin. That is true, but I think it is actually thicker then most of the darker Shorts beers. Good mouthfeel. Overall a better then average beer and one I’d drink again.
