draft at hopcats shorts dinner.
pour is very deep brown with red hints, and a nice off brown head. flavor is quite chocolatey, with a little bit of coffee in the back. only let down is that it is a little bit thin for my stout tastes.

On tap at Ashley’s, Ann Arbor, MI. Rich brown, bordering on black, color with a thin chocolatey tan head. Lots of dark, bittter sweet choclate malt on the nose with hints of caramel, roasted nuts and grains. A medium body and thinly carbonated. Slightly oily texture in the mouth with a dry finish. A unique brew.

Wow was I suprised when a friend brought back a growler of this from the brewpub. I thought "you went all the way to Short’s and a chocolate wheat beer is what you bring back?" Oh man, was I wrong...this was well worth the trip! Ground breaking wheat beer perfectly married to chocolate. I was blown away.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Shorts. When is a stout not a stout? Pours black with a thin tan head. Big aroma of burnt chocolate with a faint hint of hops. Taste is bittersweet chocolate with a super dry finish comparable to that of a wheat ale. Mouthfeel was too watery for a stout profile and too under-carbonated for any of the other styles under which it can be classified. An enjoyable, but somewhat confusing brew.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at MBG Harvest Fest 09. This beer was quite dark with the pour and had a nice tan head. I had trouble picking up on aroma, as I often do with festival pours. Never the less, this had a pretty decent flavor to it. Lots of chocolate, a bit of coffee, and nut with this beer...the wheatiness of the beer kind of throws me off, but it’s not a bad throw off. As I am coming to find out more and more, shorts sure does make a good beverage.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at HopCat in East Lansing. Pours a darker brown, tanish head that fades quickly with no head. The aroma is chocolatey with a hint of malt, not much more. The taste is light. Somewhat present with chocolate, a hint of vanilla, and some malty undertones. The mouth feel is very thin, and the lingering flavor doesn’t last long at all

Wow. Dense brown color with a good head. Sweet chocolate malt aroma. This bursts with flavors, a wheaty sweetness, chocolate, its well balanced. Good mouthfeel the chocolate just hangs out. Check it out.

On Draft at the Brewery. A little to sweet for my taste. Thought the wheat would add a new dimision but it was lost toasted stout flavor.
